Extending Black History Curriculum

As alumni, we are concerned with the lack of black history education we received at Totino-Grace. While we are proud to have graduated from Totino-Grace, we feel that black history needs to be added to the curriculum year-round instead of relegated to the same figures every February.

Why is this important?

Given the recent events in our home state of Minnesota concerning black lives matter, we feel a better education about black oppression could have aided us during this time. To this extent, our education system has failed our generation and many before us. Our classrooms have ignored the plight of blacks and minorities, for too long. Please know, we do not write to condemn but rather to inform and improve. We want to change the status quo to build a future that benefits all, white people and people of color alike. We believe change begins with education. We know that TG cares about its students of color, but we need to see this represented in the classroom. Below is a list of alumni who support this initiative.
