Free Larry Hoover, Sr. #86063-024

Demand the release of Larry Hoover, Sr. from the ADX Supermax prison in Florence, CO.

“This is a 70-year-old man in the twilight of his years, who has serious medical complications, and is seeking release to finally be with his wife, children and grandchildren after nearly 50 years of separation,” Attorney Justin Moore wrote.

Why is this important?

Larry deserves to be freed. He has served more than enough time in prison for his participation in the Gangster Disciples. He’s been imprisoned since 1973 and deserve to live out his last days at home with his family.

While imprisoned early on, Larry Hoover was laying the groundwork for moving his gang into politics.

In a 1981 memo circulated by the gang, Hoover and his board of directors informed their troops that "through business and politics, we can build an economical base that will insure us boundless power and wealth." This is exactly what the Black community needed and still needs today.

Mr. Hoover and the gang's leaders also were deeply concerned about a more immediate issue: tougher laws aimed at criminals. Its was a legitimate concern as the Black community continues to be criminalized.

"Laws and sentences have become more stiffer and longer, and prisons are being built with us in mind," according to the memo.

These are all true statements and is no secret in America.

Mr. Hoover, Sr. qualifies for the Federal First Step Act and lawmakers should step up and act now to free Larry from the oppressive criminal justice system. He is being used as “as a scapegoat,” and false narratives are consistently portrayed in the public as scare tactics. We must end the war on Larry Hoover, Sr. and send him home. We must also end the constant lies that Mr. Hoover still gives directives to gang members even though he is housed in a facility that’s touted as the nation’s most secure. Justice for Larry Hoover, Sr.
