To: Georgia Governor Brian Kemp
Gov. Kemp, We Call on You to Suspend DA Jackie Johnson Immediately !
We call upon Georgia Governor Brian Kemp to suspend Jackie Johnson, the District Attorney of the Brunswick Judicial Circuit, for failure to fulfill her obligation to the published mission statement of her office, "To Serve the Community by Prosecuting Fairly and with Justice", and furthermore for Governor Kemp to require the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI) to investigate Ms. Johnson for ● Nonfeasance — that is, a failure to act where action is required, willfully or in neglect; ● Misfeasance — that is, a willful inappropriate action or intentional incorrect action or advice; and / or ● Malfeasance — that is, a willful and intentional action which injures a party or denies a party or related parties appropriate action, which, in other circumstances, would be demanded by her authority, her office, the examination of facts in evidence and the laws & statutes of the State of Georgia and the United States of America.
Why is this important?
In the matter of the violent death of Ahmaud Arbery at the hands of Travis McMichael and his father Greg McMichael, and a supporting statement made by Glynn County Commissioner Allen Booker, to wit “The police at the scene went to her, saying they were ready to arrest both of them. These were the police at the scene who had done the investigation,” the Commissioner, who has spoken with Glynn County police, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “She shut them down to protect her friend McMichael.”
If the facts as cited here prove to be true, then Ms. Johnson intervened in a criminal investigation and prevented follow-up action by the appropriate authorities, the Brunswick Police Department, and denied additional investigation, criminal charges to be filed or presentation to a Grand Jury for possible charges.
Her actions to shield the McMichaels from criminal investigation and / or prosecution need to be investigated and, if confirmed, call for her to not only be formally removed from office, beyond the suspension, but also to be criminally prosecuted, if that is appropriate.
