To: Governor Henry McMaster

To Governor McMaster: Extend Vote by Mail to All South Carolina Voters

To Governor McMaster: Extend Vote by Mail to All South Carolina Voters

Issue an executive order or work with state legislators to extend voting by mail to all citizens of South Carolina with no excuse needed.

Why is this important?

The Covid-19 Pandemic is still going strong and scientists expect a second surge in the fall of 2020. With little testing and no vaccine in sight for Covid-19, voting in person will be risking your life. Already Wisconsin voters were forced to vote in person even though they asked for the election to be postponed until conditions were safer. Many then tested positive for the virus. We don't want that in South Carolina. Act now for the good of the entire state, Republicans, Democrats, and Independents. We should not have to risk our lives to vote.

How it will be delivered

I plan to email the signatures to Governor McMaster

Reasons for signing

  • Early voting and vote by mail should be available in SC
  • I still want to exercise my right to vote; however, due to current circumstances it is very risky to get expose to COVID-19. I have lost many family members and don't want to be part of that statistics. Let's vote safely in order to protect the wellbeing of the citizens.
  • I want to stay healthy and I want to vote.

The SC Senate has passed a bill to allow anyone to vote absentee and vote by mail. And now it's up to the house.

Hello friends and fellow voters. The legislature is due to meet in session on September 15. I'm slowly getting in touch with leaders in the State House and Senate. I just sent a PDF of the petition to staff in the office of Nikki Setzler, the minority leader of the senate. And I'm committed to delivering it to the other leaders; either by email or snail mail Please continue to remind your representatives and senators of what you want and need from them. I had just thought to include the minority leaders and I should have thought of them sooner. These are the people who may be most sympathetic to our request. Thank you for everything you do.

I've received an email from one of the Governor's staff which I will share with all of you shortly by email. Essentially they say it is not up to the Governor although he issued an order for everyone to allowed to vote by mail in the June primaries. It is up to our state representatives. I will endeavor to get a copy of this petition to whoever it needs to go to in the State House and the State Senate when I get a download of the pdf version. Thanks so much for all you do and all you're doing to make sure everyone gets to vote in this very important election.

Hi Guys, thanks for your help. The problems with the primary vote yesterday make it clear that no excuse voting by mail is crucial. We've stalled just a little over four hundred signatures from our goal. We'd like to have 2,000 signatures before we send this petition to the Governor. If you haven't shared, please share.
