Inspections for Food trucks in Missouri
Petition is to ask the State of Missouri to adopt a statewide health inspection system and license for all mobile food trucks/trailers inside the state. This would apply to all food trucks/trailers operated outside the state 3 major metro areas of St Louis. Kansas City and Springfield, Mo. The license and inspection would be a yearly inspection made by the county health department to which the food trailer/ truck is headquartered. The yearly health inspection would cover ALL counties in the state of Missouri, outside the 3 metro areas (unless adopted to include all jurisdictions.)
The purpose for this legislation would be to remove the undue burden and costs on small business owners who must pay for 7-15 different health inspections each year for the counties in which they operate. This is in addition to city required health inspections and city permits and business licenses. These added costs make surviving as a food truck/ trailer owner very difficult.

Why is this important?
Food truck/ trailer owners have a very small operating profit and the undue burden of numerous health inspections takes away much needed revenue from the owners, but also ties them up with countless inspections for the areas they serve. This is the highest cost for most food truck/ trailer owners yearly beside food, labor and fuel.
By coming up with one statewide inspection that undue burden would then be lifted from this group of hard-working Missouri business owners, trying to live the American dream of owning their own business.
