Judicial Council: Please do not contract with Dr. Lyn Mangiameli
Dr. Lyn J. Mangiameli was assigned to evaluate my mental competency. I refused to undergo an evaluation because my ex's attorney had indicated several times that she would tamper with said evaluation.
The problem is that my son has confirmed being sexually abused. The other 3 children have shown strong indications of the same. I did not want to ruin my standing to protect them.
Dr. Mangiameli subsequently submitted to the record a report without ever meeting or speaking to me. He didn't even use an assessment.
I made a preemptive complaint to the California Board of Psychology. I included all the information about my children. Kimberly Kirchmeyer, the head of the Department of Consumer Affairs, personally notified me that this matter would be taken up with him.
Dr. Mangiameli's reports are of public importance because it affects the community's safety. He has definitively demonstrated that he cannot be trusted with this responsibility.

Why is this important?
Public safety is paramount to any community, especially when it comes to children. When a psychologist is tasked with making determinations that affect court proceedings, it should be done with scientifically valid measures. Making an armchair diagnosis after being told that a false determination will conceal the sexual abuse of children, is simply unacceptable. The taxpayer should never have to flip the bill for that.
