Why is this important?

Horrific goings on at Dogtown Ranch Sanctuary Rescue and Rehab in Rockdale, Texas. The Houston Press has published two articles on the mass animal deaths and abuse going on daily at Dogtown Ranch Sanctuary Rescue and Rehab in Rockdale, Milam County, Texas:

The article describes horrific events including dog fights, starvation, heat and cold exposure which has resulted in many deaths, lack of clean drinking water, open wounds and no medical care. The Milam County sheriff's department has ignored pleas for help and has torn up every complaint filed about the abuse and cruelty occurring every day at Dogtown Ranch.

From the article: "Dozens of harrowing stills and videos, gathered between August 2025 and March 2026 and shared with the Houston Press by Dogtown visitors show squalid living conditions: feces and urine covering floors and kennels; and a dead pitbull decomposing on a kennel floor, in front of other dogs jammed into the same room.The former volunteers and donors who spoke with the Press for this story asked that their names not be used, citing fear of retaliation by Sera.

There are photos of charred dog carcasses left to bake in the sun on piles of burnt scrap. There are screenshots of text messages between volunteers discussing dogs escaping the property, only to be killed in highway traffic. Written complaints to the Sheriff’s Office allege a history of fatal dogfights and lack of medical care that leaves some dogs with gaping wounds. And in the midst of another scorching summer, volunteers fear for the safety of the dogs who bring in thousands of dollars in boarding fees for Dogtown’s owner, Angela Sera."

We are concerned for the dogs still at Dogtown Ranch Sanctuary Rescue and Rehab which bills itself as "the last chance for the abused and discarded." Instead, these poor animals pictured in the videos and photographs met a horrible fate worse than death.

Please share the petition and articles in hopes that there is some form of law enforcement that can override the local county who claim there is no crime, no cruelty, no death, no starvation, no extreme heat exposure or freezing temperatures in the winter with no protection. Where is the justice for these animals still suffering at Dogtown Ranch?

Common law husband Ruben Briones has been released from Milam County jail by Milam County Sheriff’s Office to "take over" Dogtown Ranch Sanctuary where 53 dogs have gone missing in the past couple of months. Justice for Spot and the dogs at Dogtown will be posting the original dogs inventoried by former volunteers who've suffered death threats from Angela Sera and asking for proof of life.

We have many questions about this strange "takeover" but first we want proof of life for the dogs who were deprived of care at Dogtown Ranch and deprived of protection from Milam County Sheriff’s Office who continues to support Angela Sera to continue her abuse on these dogs and horse.

We are TERRIFIED as to what it possibly means. Adoptions are way down for qualified legitimate rescues and shelters and many people are online rehoming pets....so what are the options? Dogtown has a history proven with videos, photos and testimony of killing dogs with the protection of Milam County Sheriff’s Office even when Humane World (a.k.a. Humane Society) and SPCA of Texas accompany them with a forensic vet who cited five animals in dire need of medical attention..which the Milam County Sheriff’s Office ignored and two of those animals immediately died, one horse and one dog. So if Milam County Sheriff’s Office is helping to reduce dogs as reported by the Rockdale Reporter, what are those options judging from the past animal reduction at Dogtown Ranch "sanctuary?"

Since it's ok to shoot and burn innocent dogs with Milam County law enforcement protection, how many other animals are going to have to die before someone - anyone steps in to help?

We need more signatures to get Dogtown Ranch Sanctuary shut down and the dogs and horse removed that are suffering daily. The sheriff won't do anything and tears up all complaints. They claim there is an active investigation, but no one we've talked to has been contacted by Milam County Sheriff Department.
