Make MacBride Accessible
MacBride Hall's North side has no access for wheelchair-users except through the museum which is closed on Monday and Tuesday. MacBride needs to have more accessibility for disabled people across the spectrum. It isn't just enough to have all disabled students have class on days that the museum is open; our petition is to get the University of Iowa to install an elevator in that area of the Hall. By signing this petition, you are actively supporting our effort to force the University to come to the table and make MacBride and the University as a whole more accessible.
In addition to being frustrating for disabled people, this is an active and known violation of the rights of disabled people according to the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990; the University knows that what they are doing is wrong and illegal, but refuse to change.

Why is this important?
MacBride Hall and by extension the University of Iowa is making a conscious choice to make the lives of their disabled students more difficult, and have made no effort to correct their discriminatory inaction. Help us put their feet to the fire, and spread the word.
MacBride is the tip of the iceberg: many accessible entrances, bathrooms, elevators, and even evacuation plans demonstrate a clear lack of desire to truly accommodate disabled students. Our mission across our time here at Iowa is to hold the whole of the University accountable for their numerous violations of disabled rights.

How it will be delivered
Via signatures of this petition as well as contacting the Daily Iowan and several literary magazines, other newspapers and other avenues to spread the word, we will bring our grievances to Barbara J. Wilson, the President of the University of Iowa and make the University a better place for all, regardless of ability.
