No more stalling! Build Courthouse Park!

The residents in Jersey City, led by the Courthouse Park Advocacy Group, request Hudson County and the City of Jersey City come to the public with a plan for a rapid build out of Courthouse Park.
The demolition of the Hudson County Administration Building has already been delayed by a year - with credible rumors the County will push it back further—forcing our community to wait even longer for the green space we were promised.
The Courthouse Park Advocacy Group has made repeated attempts to engage Hudson County but the County has refused to commit to a clear timeline to turn over the property at 595 Newark to allow of site remediation and construction of the park, despite the fact that Jersey City 1) engaged the community in development a vision for the park, 2) put out an RFP for the demolition of the building and construction of the park, and 3) secured millions in funding several years ago to begin the project.
Meanwhile, with new development continually adding to the population, Journal Square continues to be without an easily accessible public green space for the majority of its residents.
The 3.2 acre property at 595 Newark Avenue has been slated to become green space for the Journal Square neighborhood since the Journal Square 2060 Redevelopment Plan was unveiled in 2010.
The Courthouse Park Advocacy Group asks that Hudson County commit to transfer the 595 Newark Avenue site to Jersey City in September 2025 (aligning to the completion of the Guarini Complex) so demolition can commence, allowing for construction of Courthouse Park for the benefit of the entire community.
We also ask that Hudson County and Jersey City work with the community in the months leading up to this transfer so that all actions regarding the future Courthouse Park remain transparent to the public.
Sign this petition to demand accountability and ensure our community gets the park it deserves!

Why is this important?
Journal Square is at the heart of Jersey City, where many local and regional services are offered and where much of the city's growth is currently taking place. Despite it's importance, it has the least amount of open space of any neighborhood in the city. Residents must travel far to have access to open and green space. Green space is not only about beauty and property values, is supports the community as a whole and individuals' well being. Residents, visitors and the employees of the many services surrounding the site will benefit immensely from the space.
