OCPS Football Player Mandatory Testing

Tell Superintendent Barbara Jenkins and School Board Members that we object to mandatory testing of OCPS Football players by requiring players/parents to waive HIPAA rights while spending $1.5M in taxpayer dollars.

Why is this important?

Tell our elected OCPS Executive Leadership and Board Members we object to implementing safety measures that require the waiving our Federal HIPAA rights by requiring mandatory COVID testing as a condition of play. This measure by OCPS is expected to use $2M in taxpayer monies when current CDC guidance, as of (8/24), does not require testing of people without symptoms. No other sports are currently requiring testing. No other counties in Central Florida are implementing this measure.

For you Twitter users out there, please access OCPS' community update link and opine on the video as well as let Barbara Jenkins know how you feel about this measure. As the "Bubble" isn't working, due to non-confirmed positive test results, I'm hoping they allow football players, who wish, to return to face-to-face instruction model as it's been shown to show clear educational benefit.

OCPS Superintendent, Barbara Jenkins, was quoted as saying "We don't respond to petitions." I'm wondering if they respond to guidance documents (CDC), common sense or financial responsibility?

Game between Evans and West Orange just cancelled. This was the desired intent of OCPS from the get go. I feel terrible for these boys. No opportunity given to have a separate test run, consistent with CDC guidance, to validate/invalidate testing. Even though CDC says Covid testing (PCR and Rapid) are "Suspect" and should be corroborated. More to come...unfortunately.

Had 4 Zoom interviews today with all major outlets. Our petition has definitely taken root and has captured the attention of many. Thanks for making your voices heard! Please share and keep it going...all the way to 1,000!!

Thanks for everyone's support to make our voices heard on this senseless, unlawful and expensive measure. I remember my daughter having to take toilet paper with her to school every day her senior year at High School because they couldn't keep the bathrooms stocked. I may be off base here, but perhaps we could use our taxpayer dollars for something a little more sensible and needed?

I'd really like to see this petition reach at least 1,000 signatures before forwarding to OCPS. If you know of Orange County residents who might object to this overreach, please forward to them. Thanks!

Share with not only football players and parents/guardians but also Orange County residents who may object to use of taxpayer funding contrary to CDC guidance. Let's see if we can find out why only football and why only Orange County? Stop the insanity.
