One Client at a Time - Beauty/Permanent Makeup Industry

Allow licensed beauty professionals/permanent makeup artists to perform services privately with one client in the salon/per stylist at a time, maintaining at least 6 feet between occupied stations.

Salon professionals would be required to abide by sanitation protocols already required by the California State Board of Cosmetology, such as:

1. Washing hands between each client.
2. Sanitizing stations between every client. (All chairs, armrests, work surfaces, shampoo bowls, dryer hoods and chairs and reception desk.)
3. Additional precaution of wearing a protective face covering.
4. Increasing the frequency of restroom sanitization.

Additionally, we would ask our clients to wash their hands upon entering and exiting the salon, as well as wearing a protective mask during their appointment, if possible.

Our industry needs to be recognized as an essential business so we can better serve our community and our local economies.

Serving one client at a time (while wearing a mask & gloves) poses a low risk of spreading the virus, as compared to 20 or more people in a grocery store or 10 plus people at restaurants picking up food.

Why is this important?

Like most beauty professionals, my salon business is my sole source of income and most of us live week-to-week, dependent on being able to provide services to our clients.

While we are generally small businesses and sole-proprietors, we make up a large segment of our local economies. Our survival is at risk - we are dependent on being able to serve our clients to earn an income.

In addition, we still have overhead to pay, such as rent and utilities in order to even have a business to return to.
