Our Street (17th Ave) Is Not A Used Car / Long Term Storage Lot
Our street and neighborhood along 17th Avenue, specifically between 104th and 106th St. has been taken over by a single family and their fleet of automobiles (for going on 10 years). They are illegally operating a 'car dealership' where they store their vehicles along the public roadway on 17th Avenue. These vehicles are actively listed for sale under their 'dealership' (listed in Tukwila), and they also purchase vehicles at auction and store their cars along our street as well, I assume for future selling purposes.
They also have numerous personal automobiles dumped along our street that don't move for months to years. Often they become targets of theft, and sit in a semi-abandoned state, with grass growing around the wheels, etc. etc.
At times there have been up to 20 of their cars on our one block alone. Residents of the townhomes can't park close to their homes, and have nowhere to put their waste cans. Drug addicts have taken up shop between their vehicles, seeing as our street looks just like the type of place they think they can hang out because it looks like nobody cares. Trash gathers around the vehicles over time.
Not only is operating a car dealership in a neighborhood, and dumping cars for months to years illegal, it brings our entire street down, a place where hundreds of people share the same space, and want to live in a place we can be proud of, not what looks like one families personal junk yard.
This family needs to follow the law like everyone else. If they want to sell cars, they need to find a car lot. If they want to collect cars, and they don't have personal property to store these cars, then they need to find a storage lot somewhere else.
We are asking that King County help us to put a final resolution to this issue. Work with this family and get them help to find another place for their vehicles, and if they are unwilling, then enforce the law, and put a stop to this.

Why is this important?
Please join the residents of 17th Avenue in saying we are NOT okay in allowing an endless car hoarding situation where we live. Tell the King County Sheriff's office that we NEED their help and want permanent action to resolve this issue.
We are tired of feeling neglected, and the more we can shout that we need help, the better chance we have of seeing this change. We don't deserve to live in someone else's junkyard, we deserve to live in a safe and clean environment, and we demand action.
