Preserve the right to use kratom
I am writing to respectfully urge you to support keeping kratom legal and accessible for responsible adults in Tennessee and across the United States.
Kratom has become an important herbal supplement for many individuals seeking natural alternatives for pain management, mental health support, and overall wellness. Countless Americans report that kratom has helped them manage chronic pain, reduce anxiety, and, in some cases, transition away from more dangerous substances such as opioids.
At a time when our nation continues to face an opioid crisis, it is critical that we do not remove safer, plant-based alternatives that may help reduce dependence on prescription painkillers and illicit drugs. Many individuals have shared that kratom has improved their quality of life, allowing them to remain productive members of society, care for their families, and avoid more harmful substances.
I understand the importance of safety and regulation. Rather than banning kratom, I strongly encourage the development of reasonable regulations that ensure product quality, proper labeling, and age restrictions. This approach would protect consumers while preserving access for those who benefit from it.
Outright prohibition could have unintended consequences, including pushing individuals toward more dangerous alternatives or creating an unregulated black market. A balanced, evidence-based approach would better serve public health and safety.
The guy the bill is named after was taking prescription drugs while using kratom so the blame should be on the doctor who prescribed them or the user should have consulted with his doctor first, not kratom which has zero deaths by itself. Why do we not ban alcohol? It has killed millions of people and ruined millions of lives and is still legal. Once it is made illegal you will have alot of law abiding citizens who will be committing a felony after its been legal for so long.

As your constituent, I respectfully ask that you consider the voices of those who rely on kratom and support policies that keep it legal while promoting responsible use and regulation.
Thank you for your time and your service to our state.
Why is this important?
1. It helps real people Many individuals report that kratom supports:
Chronic pain management
Reduced anxiety or stress
Energy and focus for work
Transitioning away from stronger substances
For some, it’s the difference between functioning and struggling day to day.
2. It can be part of the solution to bigger problems With ongoing concerns around the opioid crisis, people are looking for alternatives. Some advocates believe kratom offers a lower-risk option compared to prescription opioids or illicit drugs.
3. Personal freedom matters Adults should have the right to choose natural supplements, especially when used responsibly. Supporting kratom is, for many, about protecting that freedom.
4. Smart regulation is better than bans Joining the effort doesn’t mean “no rules.” Most supporters actually want:
Age restrictions
Product testing and labeling
Safe manufacturing standards
This protects users without taking the option away.
5. Bans can backfire If kratom is made illegal:
People may turn to more dangerous substances
Black markets can grow
Safety decreases instead of improving
6. It gives people a voice Lawmakers listen when enough people speak up. Joining shows that this issue matters to everyday citizens—not just companies or lobbyists.
ITS JUST PLAIN GOVERNMENT OVERREACH!!!
