Protect LGBTQ+ Youth from Conversion Therapy
We demand immediate action to reject any attempt to legitimize so-called “conversion therapy” for minors—a practice condemned by every major medical and mental health organization as cruel, ineffective, and deeply harmful.
Right now, the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) appears poised to rule against a ban on conversion therapy in Colorado, with Chiles v. Salazar. This case would undermine hard-fought state bans on conversion therapy and threaten the well-being of LGBTQ+ children nationwide. These bans, passed in more than 20 states and D.C., exist for one reason: To protect young people from practices that have been repeatedly proven to cause severe depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, homelessness, and more.
If the Supreme Court sides with the ADF and rules against Colorado’s ban, nearly half of U.S. states could be forced to expose children to this discredited practice, erasing basic protections. This isn’t just about therapy—it’s about the dignity, safety, and futures of LGBTQ+ youth. It’s about standing against government-endorsed abuse.

We urge every person reading to fight for LGBTQ+ youth and believe experts: Conversion therapy must NEVER be legitimized by our laws or courts.

Why is this important?
This case is being pushed by the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), whose record of anti-LGBTQ+ activism includes supporting the criminalization of consensual LGBTQ+ relationships, defending state-sanctioned sterilization of transgender people abroad, fighting to ban books about LGBTQ+ people, blocking life-saving care for transgender people, and spreading hurtful falsehoods about LGBTQ+ communities. ADF’s extremist agenda would erase LGBTQ+ people from public life and gut vital protections for children and families.
Conversion therapy is NOT medical care—it is abuse masquerading as treatment. Survivors routinely report lasting psychological damage, while scientific reviews and countless testimonies show that these “therapies” do not change anyone’s identity but do cause immense suffering.
No free speech claim or “voluntary practice” justifies allowing therapists to inflict grave harm on vulnerable kids.
Colorado’s law, like those in other states, simply prohibits licensed professionals from using their role to push predetermined outcomes of denying a young person’s authentic self. It does not ban supportive counseling; it protects youth from dangerous, distressing, and disproven tactics. State power to regulate licensed healthcare exists to keep patients safe—not empower ideological crusades.
