Massachusetts is far from immune from problems affecting our nation:
- 43% of people in MA are poor to low- income.
- Many who’ve “done their time” for felony convictions are denied the right to vote.
- Blacks are incarcerated at almost eight times the rate of white residents.
- 8,457 people were deported between 2003 and 2017.
- The war economy is thriving. MA ranks fifth in the nation in number of defense contracts.
- 21% of MA Veterans (85,000) have incomes below 35,000 dollars.
- Increasing numbers of Homeless (18,000), and lack of Affordable Housing crush dreams.
