Reinstate [alice] and 1956 to The University of Alabama's campus

[alice] and 1956, both newsmagazines run by University of Alabama students, have been suspended following U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi's memo on anti-discrimination laws, citing "proxy organizations" that focus on a specific demographic — in the case of [alice] and 1956, women and black students, specifically — as a form of discrimination that could potentially result in a loss of federal funding of public institutions. Both outlets have and continued to employ workers outside of their target demographic until their suspension, meaning that anti-discrimination does not necessarily apply in this case. This is, instead, a direct attack on free speech on a college campus and must be combatted by all students. Please sign this petition to urge the administration to reconsider their actions in these suspensions and reinstate both newsmagazines immediately.
