Remove Confederate statue from the Putnam County Court House

We call on the Putnam County Board of County Commissioners to recognize the damage that Confederate symbols cause within our community. Please act to permanently remove the Confederate soldier statue from the grounds of the Putnam County Court House, in Palatka, Florida. The statue is showcased in the main lawn area. Send the message, that our community does not support any person nor movement that promoted slavery.

Why is this important?

The statue should be removed or moved to a museum where the tragic history of what it stood for and represented can be taught and will not cause consternation to minorities and people of color. The statue was erected by Patton Anderson in 1924. We were divided then, we now, need to be unified as one Putnam County under God.
