Hi Neighbor,
BIG WIN FOR US, BUT THE FIGHT’S NOT OVER!
On May 20, 2024, citing improper procedures and insufficient public review, the Superior Court of New Jersey overturned the Planning Board’s recommendation to rezone Back Creek Farm from Rural Resource Conservation (RRC) Zone to Research and Development (RD) District, which would have allowed for commercial development including warehouses.
While this decision was a win in battle, the fight continues, since the property owner and Township have options. Therefore, these 100 acres are still threatened and need your continued involvement and support.

Save Hamilton's RRC from Overdevelopment!
Keep the Rural Resource Gonservation Zone Rural!
We, concerned residents and visitors of Hamilton Township, support the purpose of the Rural Resource Conservation Zone. Protect the area on the southeastern side of Route 130 that is sensitive, pristine and rural, with open fields, lush woodlands, clear flowing streams, habitat for rare species, small family farms and historic homes. We oppose any variance or rezoning that threatens to permit urbanization that would disrupt the connectivity between open spaces. Intensive and intrusive development will degrade and ruin this area via the glut of vacant warehouses and commercialization elsewhere in the township. Development of any kind here, makes absolutely no sense - thus the name, RURAL RESOURCE CONSERVATION ZONE. We must protect this land with every resource available to us.

Why is this important?
We need the community to be aware of what's happening around them. Notice how fast developments seem to pop up overnight? That's what happens when we are not involved in the legislative process. There will be regional impacts by the fragmentation and disruption of wildlife habitats that are connected through open spaces and farmland.
How it will be delivered
We are keeping track of projects that may be pending and when they are on an agenda, we will make the public aware via SaveHamilton.com. Please take action or subscribe through our website so we may keep you informed. Projects often go through many meetings before a decision. When any project that could potentially threaten the RRC zone is nearing a decision, we will share the petition with legislators with enough leadway to impact a decision.
