  • Phase-out Plastic Bags in California Now - Pass SB 405 Authored by Senator Alex Padilla
Please protect California's environment by voting for the plastic bag ban bill (SB 405) authored by Senator Alex Padilla. Each year Californians use more than 14 billion single-use plastic bags. Just 5% are recycled, the rest can be found in our streams, rivers and beaches, dumped in our landfills, or blighting our communities. Local governments spend millions of dollars each year to clean-up plastic bag litter. Join our coalition of environmental and business groups and vote yes to ban the plastic bag.

  • LUSD Board Raising Fees on Nonprofit Youth Organizations
The LUSD Board is considering charging $10 per hour (for the first two then $5) for k-8 field use. This will significantly affect all of the nonprofit youth sports leagues like MH Little League, MH Soccer Club, MH Flag Football and MH Hurricanes. These leagues provide valuable after school activities to the same kids that go to the schools and their parents who pay taxes that helped build the schools. Fees may increase over 50% for some sports next year if this is passed. Please support our youth sports organizations!

  • Petition to limit inherited & gifted wealth
Whereas the inheritance of any position of governmental power or financial power violates the principle of democracy being a meritocracy in which positions are earned, Congress should enact legislation to limit inherited and gifted wealth to $5 million(adjusted for future inflation), with a minimum of 75% of the balance of the estate to be paid to the U.S. Treasury, allowing states to collect up to 25%, but allowing up to half of said balance to be given to charities, with at least half of it going to the 12 charities recognized by the Senate, or some agency or committee designated by them, as having the best records of alleviating poverty.

  • MR. OBAMA JUMP OFF THE FISCAL CLIFF
JUMP OFF THE CLIFF TOGETHER! 1) The "FISCAL CLIFF" is just a "Fiscal Bump in the Road". The increase in taxes is less than 5% for each of the income tax brackets. These income tax brackets are the same ones we all had in the 1990's. And IF the President wants to negociate with the Republicans, he will have a much stronger hand after January 1st! 2) The automatic cuts, the sequester, is almost certainly the ONLY way we will ever see significant cuts in the Defense Budget! 3) THE SEQUESTER DOES NOT CUT MEDICARE, MEDICAID, OR SOCIAL SECURITY! NOT A SINGLE DIME!

  • The TRUTH About Gas Prices and WHO Controls IT ALL
I think Congress should pass legislation before them known as the Anti-Excessive Speculation Act of 2011, Sponsored by Sen Bill Nelson and Sen John D Rockefeller, that aims to drastically limit the ability of speculators to artificially drive up energy prices. If this bill passes, there would be the first-ever limits on how much of the oil market speculators can control. Plain and simple: the legislation says no single investor could hold more than 5 percent of the oil futures market, thereby greatly reducing speculators ability to manipulate prices.

  • Obamacare is a Civilian Right!
I am more than willing to pay $110.00 per month for Obama Care. I worked and paid for health insurance on my job for 11 years. When I became sick my insurance provider canceled my insurance when I was in the hospital ! That insurance carrier was United Healthcare . No working American , his wife and his children should never suffer the way me and my family suffered due to what United Healthcare did to me in 2005. Sincerely, Gordon A. Wright / July 5 , 2012

  • Affordable Health Care Act
We live in a land where everyone can disagree on a law once it institute by our two branches of government the U.S. Congress and U.S. Senate, then signed into law by the President of the U. S.. And we can sue to have it overturn, by the third branch which is the U.S. Supreme Court. The Affordable Health Care Act have been upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court in a 5-4 decision, making it constitutional and the law of the land. Now the states need to start implementing the Law. If they don't the governors are committing Treason for not upholding the Constitution of the United States of America.
