Regarding the matter of the disposition of the Sebring Municipal Golf Course and Caddyshack restaurant on the property, we request that you reject Robert Blackmon's request for leasing and ownership of the  property for $1, and rule in favor of the people of the city and county who are opposed to this transaction. Mr. Blackmon has repeatedly asserted that in April of 2022, four months before the sale of the property sale was completed, he met with John Schoop, Bob Swaine and Scott Noethlich and was told at the time by city officials that transfer of these properties to his company wouldn’t be a problem. The golf course has undergone extensive renovations at the cost of the city in the interim period, with a $260,000 expenditure last approved by the city council in April of 2024. If the principals involved in these negotiations were aware of the possible transfer of management, and ultimately ownership, why was the city’s money expended on these improvements after the fact? While we are aware of the quality efforts the Blackmon concern has put into rehabilitating an historic property, we don’t feel it is in the best interests of the residents of the city and county we live in to hand over the property for nothing.

Can you imagine your bill for 19 years never been more than $60.00 for water and sewage, but starting in September of 2011 the bills escalated from $60.00/$141.00/$747.80. I would have repairs made, the bill would go down slightly, then escalate again. Sewage cost escalated more than 12%. Stop them from nearly bankrupting retired people.

Elections should be publically financed in order to eliminate the hundreds of millions spent by candidates & curtail the influence of lobbiests. The rules governing when 40% disabled Veterans can use for free the Westchester County golf courses are unfair. Not being able to play until after 12:00pm and not at all on weekends effectively excludes any working veterans. There are not enough 40 % disabled veteran golfers to have any measurable impact on county coffers. Let those who served have real access to their chosen recreation.

On November 17th, 2025, Governor Spencer Cox with Brigham City Mayor DJ Bott announced Brigham City as a site for the first ever nuclear power plant in Utah. This is an unsafe and unwise solution for clean energy in an earthquake prone area with a limited, precious water supply. There are better alternatives already available in Utah to invest in that provide safe and effective clean energy solutions, such as geothermal energy and hydrogen power. These would solve energy solutions and bring jobs to Box Elder County. Take action with us today to prevent the approval of permits to companies that would build a nuclear power plant next door from our homes and upstream from the Great Salt Lake.
