  • Say NO to Portables at Maple!
The Seattle School District is considering putting portable classrooms on the grounds of our school. We are united and strongly opposed to placing portable classrooms at Maple Elementary for the following reasons: Ø The levy funds for our 2006 remodel were specifically designated for removing the portables. Ø Maple is an open-concept building where teaming and collaboration are a vital and prescribed part of our curriculum. With portables, both teachers and students in a portable would be physically cut off from their grade team resulting in an inequitable distribution of supports, resources, and opportunities for both teachers to team and students to work cooperatively with their classmates. Ø With our large population of ELL, the support of our ELL-supporting staff is designed to address the needs of handfuls of students collectively in our open-concept classrooms. To provide the same level of support to students in a portable will result in not only an inequitable distribution of resources but the possibility of some students unable to receive these services and support at all. Ø We have three PCPs , which allow our teams of teachers—with three classroom teachers per grade level—common planning, meeting, and team-building time. An additional classroom likely will result in that classroom teacher not having the opportunity to participate in that common planning, meeting, and team-building time with his/her teammates.

  • PROTECTING THE MENTALLY ILL
Our loved ones, and mentally ill persons are Mothers, Fathers, Grandparents, Siblings, Children and Spouses to us. Mental Illness attacks persons of all origin, religion, age, sex, and financial status. They are victims to their illness and continually are victimized by those who are to help them and protect them. The system finds it easier to hold them, the mentally ill responsible for themselves when havic strikes. But the system (Dept of Children & Families, AHCA, DOH) turn away and cover-up the faults of the Doctors who take oaths to protect these fragile and disabled individuals. These agencies that are in place to protect these individuals look at the dollars they get from the government before they look at the well-being of your loved one. WE NEED TO HOLD THESE ENTITIES RESPONSIBLE AND ACCOUNTABLE for their Abuse and Negligence. Please allow this petition to send a message to our Government that "Mentally Ill persons are People too".... and they are Loved.... <3

  • Hazardous road condition
Due to the road conditions in young’s community we are petitioning for safer roads for our vehicles, kids, and for our rights to have safe passage to and from our homes. These roads should be replaced and repaved free of potholes. Many residents have loss vehicle value, and children have ended up with scars from these pot holes while playing out side this is an unsafe environment for tenants. The rent has been raised to live here for the roads to be fixed and yet nothing propers has been done. Temporary fixes do not last longer than a week. the lot rent has been raised here specifically to fix the road so if the roads do not properly get fixed we should be entitled to get our rent back to the old price it was or the roads need to be fixed.

  • Stop the neglect of children
There is no law on the age requirement for babysitting a minor in the state of Indiana. We believe there should be an age requirement of 16 years old to babysit any child under the age of 6. As well as the person watching and caring for that child to have no uncontrolled mental health illnesses for safety of the children under the sitters care and the sitter watching that/those children in their care. This also includes close family or friends, whether they believe the minor is able to watch that child or not, the requirement should be 16 years of age. At the age of 16 minors are able to know right from wrong and are old enough for the responsibility of a job legally so this would be considered in the category of working.
