There are over a billion people who cannot find jobs and whose benefits have been cut. Those people thorugh no fault of their own - because the jobs are just not there - are being kicked out into the cold, along with their children. Those children will be cold and hungry, just to satisfy the ideology of heartless men who add insult to injury by calling those victims "lazy". Tell Congress to pick on those their own size, and take care of the chidlren. As the Pope says, if a child is hungry, FEED IT!!!!

Dear President Obama, We call upon you to take the following actions in your last month in office. Standing Rock and the Environment: 1. Immediately shut down the pipeline construction through Standing Rock in North Dakota. Demand that all work stop at the site immediately, withdraw all state police and the National Guard and order the cessation of the pipeline construction. This needs to be done immediately to ensure the safety and well-being of the water protectors as well as for the long-term well-being of the planet and all its inhabitants. 2. Pardon all the water protectors and others who have been arrested, fined, or charged with any crimes for their actions at Standing Rock. 3. Call for the transition from fossil fuel to sustainable energy in the next 5 years. Criminal Justice and Reform: 4. Pardon all individuals who have been charged or convicted of nonviolent drug crimes both federally and at the state level. As you are well aware, many people, especially people of color, were swept up in the draconian war on drugs. It is time that they are freed and their civil rights are restored. 5. Remove marijuana’s classification as a Schedule 1 drug. Healing Our Country: 6. Establish a Truth and Reconciliation Commission to heal our country from our past wrongs both in terms of the genocide of Native Americans and slavery of African Americans. This one act alone would go a long way to healing the divide in our country by educating people as to what really occurred and finding ways to move forward that heal the legacy of our collective wrongs. Restoring Our Democracy: 7. Put forth a Constitutional Amendment that would (1) mandate that all federal and state elections be publicly funded and that no other money (whether from individuals, corporations or PACs) be allowed in elections; (2) eliminate the electoral college so that one-person, one vote actually means one-person, one vote; and (3) restore voting rights to all individuals who have served time for their crime; restore the Voting Rights Act; (4) create automatic voter registration for citizens as soon as they turn 18; (5) create an election weekend (both Saturday and Sunday) and require employers to provide paid leave to vote on one of the two days.

President Obama and Congress should put a time limit on the nationality-based restrictions of the visa waiver reform bill as called for by the ACLU.

Seattle School District children have an average of 8-15 min to eat their lunch (if they are lucky). Most children do not have enough time to eat half their lunch.

Stop the cutbacks to Washington state public education. Find another way to make up for the shortfall in the state budget.

We are urging Governor Murphy to veto and fix a the Bag Fee Legislation with actions that will truly make a difference. The New Jersey State bill (A3267/S2600) only sets a 5-cent fee on all single-use plastic and paper bags throughout the Garden State. We need to change the bill to include: • Phasing-out and banning bags by 2020-2021 • Protect towns that want or have strong laws • Charge 10-cent fee on all other bags • Dedicate the funds to help reduce litter and lead in drinking water • Requiring enforcement of and education about the law Support our environment and SIGN PETITION BEFORE AUGUST 22nd ahead of the Senate and Assembly meeting on this issue!

The Town Board should not authorize the sale of EPCAL land to Calverton Aviation & Technology unless and until the following covenants are incorporated into any contract, or into an accompanying document, binding on the new owners and their "successors in interest": 1) the use of the property be limited to aviation industry related manufacturing; 2) commercial aviation or airport operations, not directly connected with aviation-related manufacturing, be prohibited; 3) casino gambling, games of chance, wagering, and sports betting in any form be prohibited; 4) all residential housing, including supportive housing, be prohibited; and 5) land deemed undevelopable by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation at the time of sale be excluded from the contract (approximately 1,000 acres)

Dear John P.DiGiovanni, Please allow the tenants at 110-120 Brookline st to stay as long as possible, and provide at least 5 months notice when they are asked to vacate. No other music rehearsal spaces exist in Cambridge, and the rehearsal spaces in nearby, public transit accessible areas are full. The multiple recording studios that run out of the building have invested significant funds in infrastructure and will be losing a lot of money if they cannot remain.
