  • Morris County Freeholders Considering Resolution to Ban Churches from Receiving Historic Preserva...
We are against this resolution for 3 primary reasons: 1) Historic funding has a "neutral criteria" for historic preservation and does not endorse the religion nor foster religious activities; 2) Most church buildings serve a far greater purpose beyond religious activity, such as hosting 12 Step Support Group Meetings, hosting Food Pantries & Soup Kitchens, serving as Community Disaster Recovery Centers, etc., 3) Many church buildings have great historical value to their community and area, offering a "sense of place."

  • Reform Prop. 13/Educate Our State
Reform Prop. 13 to its original purpose of providing property tax stability for primary residences. Prop 13 was not intended to provide subsidized tax rates to corporate land holders and big businesses. We can fund California's entire public education system from pre-K to K-12 to community college to state colleges to the University of California if we let corporate land lords pay market rate taxes. Reform Prop 13 . Protect primary residences. Fund our public schools.

  • Stop Subsidizing Fossil Fuels & Climate Change
Fossil fuels receive nearly 6-times more subsidies than clean energy ($72 billion versus $12 billion each year)--and that doesn't factor the annual $500 billion in the environmental and public health damages. We have the technology to wean ourselves from fossil fuels. Stop using tax payer money to subsidize the most profitable industry in history, level the playing field--and allow the free market to reward the innovators and industries that will lead us to a sustainable national economy, a stable climate, and energy security.

  • Keep the pro-gun agenda out of our classrooms
On June 13th the Colorado State Board of Education will vote on health standards for K-12 Students including a Republican amendment to require 4th grade teachers to teach about the benefits of gun ownership, rather than just the dangers. Colorado fourth grade students deserve to live in healthy violence free relationships. Guns in the home drastically increases the risk of injury and death, therefore it is vital that students understand the dangers of having weapons in the home. This information should not be glossed over by promoting gun ownership in the Colorado Academic Standards.

  • Living Wage for Washington State
We the people of Washington State deserve to make a living wage. The current minimum wage does nor pay for the actual cost of living. There are too many people that have worked to get higher educations just to become trapped in go nowhere minimum wage positions that put their level of wages at or even below the Federal Poverty Level. We need a minimum wage that is at $12 an hour minimum wage or better yet 2-5% above the actual cost of living and it needs to stay at that level.
