  • Justice for Jaquez
http://www.walb.com/story/19428038/bullying-accusations-end-in-stabbing#.UGGkhv8HylQ.facebook Bullying accusations end in stabbing (updated with GBI release) I am writing today to call for justice for Jaquez J. Mosley and his family. Jacquez was only 16 years old when he was killed for defending his sister from a bully, which was also a relative. Jaquez was unarmed when he confronted the bully and was stabbed, which resulted in his death. According to law officials the case is still under investigation after almost 5 months the witness statements have not been released to the proper authorities leaving the family with a lot of unanswered questions and the suspect is free. Please help our family seek justice by the local authorities for Justice for Jaquez and our family by signing this petition. Sincerely Tammy M. Lester

  • STOP FRACKING for Natural Gas in ILLINOIS
We NEED smarter, safer methods to benefit ALL of us...not just wealthy corp's that buy our Federal Lands that ALL of us own. High Intensity "Sound waves" can be safely used instead deep underground (similar to wine glass breaking in front of speaker Db) to localize the same results without permanent damage to our environment & still allow extraction of Natural Gas. • Destroy All Firearms
Stop the killing of our children! Mr. President, Congress, and Legislature, we demand you to take notice and act immediately. Our children are becoming extinct do to the violence of firearms. The United States Constitution states that we as Americans have the right to bear arms, nowhere in that Amendment does it include semi automatic weapons. The Amendment also states that this right is only acceptable when one is defending himself. When it comes to innocent children between the ages of 5 and 10 years old where is the threat? I am asking each and everyone of you to join me. We must get the guns off of the streets now. We've already lost too many innocent lives. To Sandy Hook Elementary School and the residents of Newtown Connecticut, as well as the families directly affected by this incomprehensible tragedy, our prayers go out to each and everyone of you.

  • Stand Up For Our (Economic) Rights
President Obama and Members of Congress, The Great Recession has provided us all with an enormous challenge, but also an opportunity to push for meaningful economic change in America. We ask that you stand up for the 99% in these tough times, and ratify an economic bill of rights that guarantees our people the security they need to pursue the American Dream. This second bill of rights is to include: (1) The right to a job and a living wage; (2) The right to have housing; (3) The right to have healthcare; (4) The right to have an education; (5) Protection from unfair competition and monopolies; (6) And access to Social Security when we need it. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "All of these rights spell security... America's own rightful place in the world depends in part upon how fully these and similar rights have been carried into practice for all our citizens." ~Franklin D. Roosevelt, 1944

  • Tell President Obama Not to Retroactively Penalize Public Servants with Loan Program Change
As part of his 2015 budget, President Obama has proposed changes to the public service loan forgiveness program that could dramatically impact the lives of many professionals who have chosen to pursue a career in public service. The federal loan program made $43 billion last year -- more than Exxon and Apple -- but this change would dramatically increase monthly payments and dramatically lower the cap for forgiveness for those who have chosen a career in public service. Professionals who went to school and made career choices based on this promise would have it yanked away. President Obama wants to encourage public service, but now wants to remove the only financial path for making it work. Tell the White House that these reforms are misplaced. Please sign this petition: http://wh.gov/ly4yq. We need 100,000 signatures by April 5 to get the President to respond.

  • Tell President Obama: Take Executive Action Against Gun Violence
We know you are open to addressing this issue without Congress, and we therefore encourage you to consider these five actions your administration can take without Congressional approval: 1.Remove exemptions that let dangerous people carry guns near our children's schools 2. Make sure high-volume gun sellers become licensed dealers and are required to conduct background checks for all gun sales. 3. Ensure that federal law enforcement notifies local law enforcement when dangerous criminals try to illegally buy guns at dealers in their community 4. Help states that require background checks for all gun sales to enforce existing laws on the books 5. Don't let convicted domestic abusers buy guns just because they're not married to the person they abused

  • Do the job we hired you to do.
I want Congress particularly the Republicans to stop talking at the people and start working for the People. When the Republicans won in 2010 they said that their priority was Jobs Jobs Jobs. Where is the promised legislation? You have talked about women's reproductive rights. Focusing on not cooporating with anyone who is not ideologically pure as you define it and working day and night to make sure nothing benefitting the people gets done. I am not wroried about sheria law. I am worried about jobs and helathcare and Social Security and Medicare and the middle class staying in the middle class. I am worried about 1 in 5 children going hungry. You want to pass the Ryan Budget which will end all of the things I care about. Stop! Do your job or I will not vote for you to stay as my representative and Senators

  • Help New York City Bed & Breakfasts Stay Open for Business
I support StayNYC and the right for New York City Bed & Breakfasts (B&Bs) to stay open for business. Established B&Bs within NYC have become unintended targets for closure due to state law Ch. 225 of 2010, which prohibits stays of less than 30 days in all Class A buildings. The State law only affects the 5 boroughs of NYC. B&B’s are now subject to inspections by the Mayor's Office of Special Enforcement Task Force. As a result, several legitimate, hotel and sales tax compliant B&B's have closed. StayNYC is advocating for an exemption to the law for a specific class of small facilities operators in NYC. The warmth, comfort and personalized service of B&B’s can be found in virtually every corner of the globe. With a record 50 million visitors in 2011, NYC needs to offer that option as well.

  • LEVELING THE PLAYING FIELD
_*Congressional Reform Act of 2012*_ 1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they're out of office. 2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose. 3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do. 4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%. 5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people. 6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

  • AIA 2023 Track and Field State Championship Qualifier
The State Divisional Track and Field Meet (State Championship Qualifier) for ALL divisions should be competed over the same time period for the competition and have the same amount of days of rest. If one division is able to get a day of rest in between the two days of competition then all divisions should require the same amount. To accommodate the athletes for this year, AIA should allow additional entries for all events that were competed in on Saturday May 6th for the athletes only in Divisions 2, 3, 4, and 5. The majority of the athletes that qualified for the State Championship Meet were in Division 1. Division 1 was given an additional day of rest between the two days of competition thus equating to slower times for all other divisions on the second day. The lower divisions also made decisions to limit their athlete's entered events because of this lack of rest given.
