McDonald and now Culver's have TV's in their dinning rooms which run FOX news continuously. This propaganda machine is offensive to many progressives. So we should stand together and tell them to change the channel to something more benign or we will stop patronizing them until they do.

Something needs to be done about the roads in Jourdanton. We have pot holes so big and deep that cars are actually getting stuck in them. They are so rough to drive on that we have to put our cars in the shop because it’s causing so much damage. We demand a change and an effort besides putting rocks in them that do NOTHING! We NEED NEW ROADS

Washington Township NJ wants to kick out American Legion Post 521 from their home at Grenloch Community Center. This will leave the legion members with no place to meet. How can a legion survive without a place the members can call home? The current reasoning behind this move by the township is that they need the money of sale of the American Legion post's building. That is unacceptable. If the township needs money, they need to do it without hurting our veterans. Any small amount of money they save in the short term is nothing compared to what these men and women have sacrificed for our country and for Washington Township. These people are heroes, and the town is treating them like they don't even matter. Tell Washington Township council and your mayor that you support veterans! Save the American Legion Post 521 meeting home!

We request the FCC re-institute the Fairness Doctrine and institute rules that require reporting and commentary be held to the highest journalistic standard of fairness and accuracy in broadcast media. We also request strict adherence to the 'equal time rule' devoid of a requirement for financial remuneration to the broadcasting networks.

It is hard to believe but true that a government run by Democrats is willing to restrict freedom of the press by implementing this policy. The new policy threatens to undermine the accurate, complete and timely dissemination of independently produced news. We urge the Labor Department (DOL) to reconsider and delay implementing this new policy, better explain the problem the Department is attempting to address, and engage affected parties and the public before implementing any changes to current practice. Specifically, we would like to meet with Department representatives to better understand the Department’s concerns with current practice, discuss our concerns with the Department’s new approach, and explore reasonable alternatives that avoid unnecessarily infringing on journalists’ ability to independently report timely, accurate information to the public. Formed in 2005, the Sunshine in Government Initiative is a coalition of media groups committed to promoting policies that ensure the government is accessible, accountable and open. Members include the American Society of News Editors, The Associated Press, Association of Alternative Newsweeklies, National Newspaper Association, Newspaper Association of America, Online News Association, Radio-Television Digital News Association, Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press and Society of Professional Journalists. For many years, media organizations have supported procedures to facilitate simultaneous release of sensitive government data that affect markets, and pre-embargo access is essential for media to disseminate information in a timely, accurate and independent manner. The public has benefited enormously from the process the Department currently uses. The practice used to this point ensures the simultaneous release of information while also providing time that enables reporters to place the new data in meaningful context. Distribution occurs through redundant, dedicated lines, assuring security and the timely release of information. This combination of simultaneous release, data placed in accurate context, and security is why other agencies of the U.S. Government which manage the release of market moving news use processes very similar to those currently used by DOL. Under DOL’s new policy, however, participants would be required to remove their software, hardware, and dedicated lines from the DOL by June 15, 2012. Reporters would be required to use only government owned software and hardware. The use of modern news-producing software would be prohibited. All transmission would be via the internet, not via secure, redundant line. The DOL would own and operate the data lines, internet access and internet connections. As the government grows more concerned about cybersecurity, the proposed policy would create a single point of failure. This new policy also would have the practical impact of inhibiting the quality, accuracy and independence of news reporting. Unpublished newsgathering information is privileged and protected from compelled disclosure under the First Amendment. Requiring news organizations to draft news articles on government-owned and government-operated computers would give the government unfettered access to unpublished draft news stories and will necessarily inhibit journalists from producing thorough, timely and accurate reporting based on market-moving information. While the Department has alluded to alleged security breaches, the Labor Department has yet to explain its specific concerns this new policy proposes to address. The parties directly affected and the public cannot evaluate whether any change in procedure, including the new approach the Department announced, is appropriate to address the underlying problem. We are committed to working with you to better understand any concerns about the current practice and explore reasonable, mutually acceptable solutions, and we would welcome a dialogue to better understand this problem and explore less drastic alternatives. With between 100 to 180 Florida Panthers in existence, they still represent a vulnerable and federally listed endangered species. Nonetheless, Florida Fish and Wildlife (FWC) Vice Chairwoman Liesa Priddy, who owns a 9,300 acre ranch in the middle of panther country, put forth a proposal to drastically cut back on the protections panthers enjoy at the behest of private developers who are seeking to construct 10,000 homes. Ms. Priddy proposed the policy changes without soliciting the opinion of FWC biologists and claims to have suffered personal financial loss due to panther conflicts. Both of these revelations demonstrate a conflict of interest, and therefore disqualify her from making objective decisions. As such, she should be forced to recuse herself from any decisions regarding the safety, welfare and preservation of the Florida panther, immediately.

Under Donald Trump’s Executive Order on Immigration, New Yorkers face new and grave threats of deportation just by being charged with a crime. District Attorney have the power to protect undocumented immigrants in NYC by halting broken windows prosecutions. What is a “broken windows prosecution?” It is when a person is arrested for and then charged with a low-level “quality of life” crime. These offenses include: jumping the subway turnstile, selling DVD’s on the street, forgetting to pay a fine, trespassing in a NYCHA building, littering, and having a small amount of marijuana. New York has promised to be a sanctuary city and the District Attorney how need to do their part for the community. Halting broken windows prosecutions is the most immediate way of resisting Trump’s plan for mass deportation while demanding an end to the criminalization of low income New Yorkers of color.
