Stop harassment from parents that dont pay their child support and trying to bully the other parent into closing their cases. A person on probation for back child support should not have the right to harass the other party by phone, text, email, the kids, social media or any other means without being held accountable for their actions. In the next 12 months I would like to see the history of the United States taught truthfully about our relationship with Native Americans from our first interaction to the most recent. We can do that using You Tube, Facebook, TV specials, PR and other media as well as programs in our schools at all levels. I want all of my Grandchildren to know the unvarnished truth – what we did to the Indians as well as what they might have done to us – and why. I don’t want any exaggeration of atrocities on either side – nor any lies about what we actually did or didn’t do as immigrants and outsiders. And in 2013 – I want all of our leaders at the municipal, State and Federal level to declare Thanksgiving 2013 a holiday of commemoration and of asking forgiveness for the crimes we committed against the Indians and of forgiving any actions the Indians took to protect themselves, their lands and their culture so that we can start over again with Native Americans and ask their permission to continue to live in their land.

In February 2014, SF 2251 passed the Iowa Senate 48 - 0. This bill allows for school and work requirements to be combined for child care assistance. It also allows for extension of eligibility from 6 months to 12 months. It now moves on to the Iowa House of Representatives. Child Care Assistance is not welfare. It enables low-income parents to work and go to school so they can get a better job. Child Care Assistance is an effective tool to get families off of public assistance, so it is a a program that saves taxpayer dollars in the long run. This bill also ensures assistance is not taken away within months of starting work, which can force families to leave their jobs because they cannot afford child care.
