Camden's Public Landing - A Public Space, Not a Revenue SourceDear Town of Camden and Town of Camden Select Board It has become increasingly apparent that the parking policies enforced at Camden's Public Landing are more focused on generating revenue than serving the public's best interests. The current system disregards the needs and livelihoods of residents and workers who contribute to our town's charm and viability, especially during the off-peak months. The Public Landing is named for its intended purpose - a space for public use. However, the stringent enforcement of parking fees, often amounting to high fines for slight overtimes, have made this space less accessible to the very public it is supposed to serve. From the perspective of local workers and residents, the parking situation feels punitive rather than protective of their interests. For example, during the off-peak months, when workers are busily preparing for or wrapping up the tourist season, the Public Landing's parking fees and strict time regulations often create a logistical and financial hardship. This is felt keenly by those who must park, run errands, and often return to find the lot fully occupied or risk being ticketed for overstaying a mere few minutes past the enforced time limit. The consequence of this is a financial toll that many residents and workers struggle to bear, along with the inconvenience and stress of scrambling for parking in a town that should be serving them just as they serve the town. A review of the parking enforcement measures seems not only fair but necessary. To this end, we are proposing changes to the current parking regulations: 1. Change the Parking Enforcement Season: We propose to shorten the parking enforcement season to July 1st through August 30th, coinciding with the peak tourist season. During off-peak months, residents and workers should be able to park without paying fees or worrying about time limits. 2. Adjust the Parking Enforcement Hours: We suggest limiting parking enforcement to between 11 am and 4 pm. This provides much-needed flexibility for local workers and residents needing access to parking spaces in the early morning and late afternoon hours. 3. Removal of Paid Parking System: We advocate for the removal of the paid parking system, replacing it with a more equitable two-hour parking rule. This will help preserve the public use of the landing, while still maintaining order and turnover in the parking lot. 4. Amend Parking Code for Over Limit Parking: We propose an amendment to the parking code that prevents parking tickets from being issued for over-limit parking if there are other vacant spots in the lot or on the street. This would protect residents and workers from unnecessary fines when parking is available. 5. Refund of Parking Fees and Fines: We are seeking a provision for the town to refund all parking fees and fines collected from the harbor parking lot from its inception to date. This would help to rebuild trust in the town's commitment to its residents and workers, rather than focusing solely on revenue generation.21 of 100 SignaturesCreated by David Scott Norton

Injunction changes to prevent more deaths!Injunction hearings are conducted daily with more than 75% not substantiated according to the Judge. However, on average nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men. 1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men experience severe intimate partner physical violence, intimate partner contact sexual violence, and/or intimate partner stalking with impacts such as injury, fearfulness, post-traumatic stress disorder, use of victim services, contraction of sexually transmitted diseases, etc. 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced some form of physical violence by an intimate partner. This includes a range of behaviors (e.g. slapping, shoving, pushing) and in some cases might not be considered "domestic violence." 1 in 7 women and 1 in 25 men have been injured by an intimate partner. 1 in 10 women have been raped by an intimate partner. It is clear there is not enough protection, investigation and thorough decision making in our court system. I am a licensed counselor and owner of a well known mental health practice in Brevard County. Another patient has died at the hands of the court. Injunctions consistently denied, sheriff’s dismissing her 911 calls, and now a middle aged, perfectly healthy mom is dead due to an unexpected heart attack after a last attempt of an injunction against her ex-husband was denied by the court. Her 5 year old child is now without his mother and in the hands of the abuser and one who indirectly killed his mother. I see this time and time again. Either the mother dies by suicide because she couldn’t take being denied by the court and wouldn’t take her plea for help seriously, or she is murdered by the abuser. In this case, the amount of stress for over 2 years impacted her perfectly healthy body and suddenly stopped her heart. I want change. We need change. This has to stop. I want a law passed that will force Judges to order psychological testing and therapy for all Individuals involved in an injunction request. Children should be immediately protected and in therapy as well. The petitioner and respondent should have a psychological evaluation and a minimum of 12 sessions of therapy, report given to the judge after completion. This should be mandatory prior to any injunction being lifted or permanent. This will prevent such a lift of protection based on hear-say and simply a Judges opinion. Unfortunately, Judges do not understand manipulative tactics of an abuser which allows them to walk free and continue to physically and/or psychologically torment the victim. Additional mental health professionals should be involved in these cases, so that is what I am requesting.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Nella Bella Albrecht

Sign a Letter of Support: BUYOU Art Lofts, a new Live/Work Neighborhood for New Orleans CreativesCity Council VOTE Date: Thursday, March 13, 2025 Dear Members of the City Council: The 2025 FLUM Amendments are the most CATALYTIC, needed, important, public policy decisions that you may vote for that brands New Orleans East as Open for Business!! Buyou Art Lofts Mission Statement: Share Space that builds Synergy This corporation aims to advance critical, self-discovery through shared self-development experiences; address industry and societal challenges; foster collaboration and partnership development across industry, academia, government, nonprofits, civil society, and communities of practice; stimulate economic growth and job creation; and serve as a conduit to regional innovation and talent. I/We write to express support for the FLUM Zoning Designation Change of Mixed-Use Low-Density to support the proposed “Buyou Art Lofts” development proposed at 5700 + 5775 Deer Park Blvd. This proposed development is essential to address a critical need for new, modern, workforce housing that will monetize the development’s small business mission of increasing entrepreneurship in New Orleans East. Zoning Support: I/We support the City of New Orleans Master Plan Future Land Use Map Amendment (FLUM) PD09-09 because the amendment acknowledges single-family, duplex, four-plex, multi-family, commercial, and/or mixed-use land use options. The amendment promotes commercial development and diverse housing options that together, co-dependently, each sector above, stimulates economic growth through flexible land uses. This amendment aligns with the City of New Orleans' broader goal of ensuring that New Orleans East is economically positioned to attract diverse business and housing options that foster community vitality. Proximity to Public Amenities: The strategic location of PD09-09 is in proximity to facilities that include: retail/service, medical, office, town home housing, and single-family housing. Both, the Lake Forest Blvd. and Deer Park Blvd. corridors have a mix of land uses amid land that was occupied pre-Hurricane Katrina, and since presents increased disinvestment, yet are vacant land “opportunity gaps.” Additional amenities in the area include: New Orleans East Hospital, National Blue Ribbon Lake Forest Elementary Charter School, Abramson Sci Academy, Read Public Library, the City of New Orleans 1st Nationally Accredited Joe Brown Park, 1 of 5 recognized Top National Urban Nature Centers (Louisiana Audubon), public transportation, and neighborhood scale retail. These amenities make the location an ideal choice for fostering community growth with your VOTE for FLUM PD09-09. I/We request that the City Council support the Mixed-Use Low Density Zoning Change Request for PD09-09. Your favorable consideration of this amendment will undoubtedly continue the process of enhancing quality of life experiences for existing and new New Orleans East residents and businesses. Respectfully Submitted.53 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Palesa Development

Plan for Maui to have a safer reopeningPlease create and adopt resolutions, orders and or mandates that will achieve the following goals: 1. In order for arriving travelers to avoid a full 14-day quarantine, in addition to the negative test prior to travel, require a second negative test to be taken on the 7th day after a short 6 day quarantine. 2. Adopt a metrics-based, phased opening strategy, similar to the ones that many other states, cities and counties around the country have published and put in place, including Honolulu. We have included a sample on our website that could be adapted and used for Maui County. You can find it here: halehawaii.cc/reopening 3. Increase Maui’s testing capacity. There are a variety of testing modalities now available. We need to prioritize being able to test large numbers of people quickly without having to send the test off island. COVID-19 is not going away anytime soon. We need to create infrastructure here to be able to test. Hawaii is failing at testing. Currently we are testing a smaller % of our population than almost any other state. This is unacceptable. . We would like to see Maui County prioritize local testing and perform the amount of testing necessary to mitigate COVID-19. This would require approximately 1,500 tests performed daily. In order to have this much testing, our local government or businesses will need to purchase supplies and create a plan for on-island testing to be the norm, not the exception. 4. Testing of interisland travelers. We need a rapid test done at the airport for all inter island travelers to bypass quarantine. 5. We need a robust contact tracing system for the county of Maui. The Mayor of Oahu used CARES act money to hire their own contact tracing team (supplemental to the DOH). We should be taking similar action. Additionally we need to promote and encourage adoption of automatic contact tracing using available apps and technology. 6. We need to adopt a method for making it easier to determine whether travelers subject to quarantine are in compliance. If it is not feasible to require them to quarantine in designated hotels with security monitoring, we could use a system such as colored bracelets with the quarantine release date printed on them. If neither law enforcement nor visitor industry workers can readily determine whether a given individual should be in quarantine or not at any given time, we have no way to prevent untested visitors from blending in with tested ones at our restaurants and visitor activities, posing an even greater risk of spreading infection through our communities. An option for use of a GPS-enabled app program such as Sustain Hawai’i’s PERSEUS program would also work to ensure safety.197 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Cara Flores

**Petition to Address the Exploitation of Players in the Mavericks Independent Baseball League**To Whom It May Concern, I am writing this petition to bring attention to a matter of great importance regarding the Mavericks Independent Baseball League. As a dedicated supporter and regular attendee of the games at Volcanoes Stadium, I have observed firsthand the passion and dedication of the players who make this league what it is. I, Jordan, am a player and assistant coach for the Portland Mavericks, and for the past 3 years, our family has been deeply invested in this community. However, it is with a heavy heart that I must address the unfair treatment and exploitation of these players. **1. Unpaid Players:** The players in this league are not compensated for their efforts. They play 96 games a season, yet receive no financial remuneration. Despite their commitment, they are expected to perform without any form of payment, while umpires and coaches receive compensation. This disparity is unjust and devalues the players' contributions. **2. Lack of Food Provision:** Players are not provided with food before or after games. Furthermore, there is a strict rule prohibiting outside food or drinks for anyone entering the ballpark, including the players themselves. This policy places an undue burden on the players, who must fend for themselves without adequate nourishment. **3. Absence of Official Baseball Reference:** The league does not provide an official baseball reference for the players. This means that the players' stats for the season are not recorded in the official database, which is crucial for scouts and coaches who might consider them for future opportunities. This omission severely hampers the players' chances of advancing their careers. **Additional Concerns:** - Some players are forced to live in a retirement home in Turner as their housing option, which is far from ideal. - Players are required to pay a uniform fee at the start of the season. - There is no player union to support and address the players' concerns or needs. The current management, led by the Walkers and Jerry Howard, appears to be prioritizing financial gain over the welfare of the players. The community in Keizer, known for its strong sense of support, is underrepresented in terms of business sponsorships due to strained relationships caused by the league's management. Despite these challenges, the players continue to give their all for the love of the game and the fans who support them. They deserve better treatment, respect, and opportunities. This league has the potential to be a beacon of community spirit and a launchpad for players' careers, but significant changes are necessary to achieve this. We, the undersigned, urge the Mavericks Independent Baseball League to: 1. Implement fair compensation for all players. 2. Provide adequate food and nourishment for players before and after games. 3. Ensure that players' stats are recorded in an official baseball reference database. 4. Improve living conditions and eliminate unnecessary fees imposed on players. 5. Establish a player union to address and support players' needs and concerns. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, Jordan Drake [email protected] (971)323-8214145 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Jordan Drake

Keep Shamar AKA Shimmy @ Middletown North for his last year!!!!Shamar AKA Shimmy started attending Thorne Middle School for his 5 grade school year, and graduated from Thorne and then went on to attend Middletown High School North. Shamar will be a rising Senior for the 2024-2025 upcoming school year. Here is where the problem started, I was renting a house in Port Monmouth, and in December of 2023 we had to move out of the house due to the owners wanted to sell the property. After moving out we had to stay in a couple of hotels for months on end because I could not find another house or apartment in Middletown Township so that I could assure Shamar (Shimmy) would be able to finish his last year at MNH. In March I had to make a major decision to take a home in Keansburg so that I could have a stable roof over my sons and I head. So he is now considered a Keansburg resident and must attend Keansburg High School. When the parent that I am tried to fight to keep him at MHN by going to court, and because Shamar has an IEP Keansburg is not going to let him attend MHN because “They have the services that are but in place through his IEP” I truly understand all of this. But people this is this young man’s last year, his SENIOR YEAR. He is on the bowling team, he was on the track team, he does countless hours of community service being a part of the Middletown Police Explores. Please help me keep Shamar AKA Shimmy at Middletown High School North for his Senior Year!!!! This is a message from a fellow officer who works with Shamar on the Police Explores!!!! “So I would still make the call to the Middletown Board of Ed office and make that claim that you were displaced from home around Xmas of 23 and have been bounced around to motel and hotel ever since. And that the assistance you receive has forced you to sign a lease in Keansburg just to keep a stable environment for Shamar who is a 16 year old autistic male. And that moving him out of his current HS of Midd North would not only be debating to his mental health but also throw him into a regression of behaviors you haven’t seen in years. Shamar is an active and positive member of the mHSN school. He’s a student athlete, a member of Middletown Police Explorers who does countless hours of community service. Moving him at one of the most pivotal and transitional time in a young man’s life will negatively affect his education and ability to successfully finish out his Senior year and could have irreparable damage on his mental health”1,410 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Shannon Ellis

RAISE THE MINIMUM WAGE TO $15 PER HOURThe Raise the Wage Act of 2017, co-sponsored by Senators Patty Murray and Bernie Sanders and House members Bobby Scott and Keith Ellison, would hike the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2024. It would then index the minimum wage to the median wage (to keep low-wage workers’ pay changing at the same pace as the pay of middle-wage workers) and would gradually phase out the loopholes in federal minimum-wage law that set subminimum wages for tipped workers, teenagers who’ve just started their jobs, and workers with disabilities.28 of 100 SignaturesCreated by COREY ADDISON BAKER

West Virginia's Children Need Access to Community-based Mental Health CareWest Virginia’s youth mental healthcare is in crisis. To fix this problem, we must create a comprehensive plan to expand and improve mental and behavioral health care and family services. West Virginia must develop a coordinated network of community-based mental services to reduce the number of children institutionalized in facilities because so few community treatment alternatives exist. And State leaders must also ensure that these service are available state-wide, and easily accessible to all young people and their families.227 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Gary McDaniel
