NY State Senator Marisol Alcantara - Stop violating our 1st Amendment rights! To all NY District 31 Residents, One day, I got to talking with a few constituents around my neighborhood...and discovered we had something in common. Something big, something unjust, and something with potential legal implications for our NY State Senator, Marisol Alcantara. First a brief backstory on Marisol Alcantara: She ran as a Democrat, and upon election turned her back on the Democratic Party, giving full control of Albany to Republicans, and a dangerous Trump agenda (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5mESf-kjuSI). By caucusing with the Republican Party in Albany, she prevented important legislation on protection for immigrants, school funding, healthcare for all NY, LGBTQ & women’s rights, and so much more from actually becoming law (https://medium.com/@achangnyc/25-groundbreaking-bills-passed-by-the-new-york-assembly-but-blocked-in-new-york-senate-fe69642b0a51). Most recently, Marisol has been caught taking hundreds of thousands in shady campaign money, and was ordered to return it (she has not returned it yet) (https://www.nytimes.com/2018/07/24/nyregion/idc-klein-primary-campaign-finance-ny.html?smprod=nytcore-ipad&smid=nytcore-ipad-share). She’s one of 8 Trump Democrats in New York, who sold us out for money. If I didn’t live here, I wouldn’t even believe this story; sadly it is true. And if that weren’t enough, I’ve discovered that Marisol, in her bid for re-election in one month, is silencing the voices of her constituents. She’s deleting questions and responses on Facebook. Blocking members from her Public Profile on Facebook. Blocking followers of her official Twitter account @NY31Alcantara. And all of them are constituents. This is a blatant attack on our 1st Amendment rights. Many of you have spoken up to say you’re also victims. I’m asking you now to formally add your name to our petition to demand Marisol Alcantara stop violating our 1st Amendment rights. I’m in contact with lawyers about a possible class action suit against her. The lawsuit Twitter Users won against Donald Trump, gives us a substantial foundation (Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University, et al. v. Donald Trump, et al., 1:17-cv-05205-NRB). If you’d like to join the lawsuit, DM me @1stAmendment31. Thank you for signing this petition and standing up for our 1st Amendment rights, and please share widely. Time is short with one month until the election — and on that note, remember to Vote Robert Jackson on Thursday September 13th! Mayor de Blasio: Accept the Jury's Finding of NYC Police Misconduct at the 2004 Republican Conven...On July 2, 2014, a Federal Court jury found that New York City police acted with "malice or evil intent" in falsely arresting people at the 2004 Republican National Convention in NYC, awarding punitive and compensatory damages to the four plaintiffs. Mayor de Blasio: we can't reform police misbehavior if we don't admit past mistakes and stop the City from appealing this just and long overdue verdict.105 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Howard J. Gale

Denver Post: Investigate Cory Gardner's liesCory Gardner is claiming that he helped co-write legislation that launched "our state's green energy industry." In actuality, the 2007 bill that Gardner sponsored did absolutely zero for the environment or Colorado. That why we demand that the Denver Post investigate his campaign to uncover any other lies that he has been telling Coloradans.3,521 of 4,000 SignaturesCreated by Jerry Doody

Rep. Joseph Crowley: Will you stand with us to oppose President Obama's cuts to Social Security?Rep. Crowley: Will you stand with us to oppose President Obama's cuts to Social Security? Of all the cuts that might be made, these are the worst possible choices. Further, there is no real need for them. Social Security has worked well for decades. There should be no initial step -- which this indeed is -- to start dismantling it. Will you stand with us by saying no to President Obama's proposal to cut Social Security by lowering the cost-of-living adjustment for current and future retirees?130 of 200 SignaturesCreated by James van Maanen

Restore Democracy Asbury Park Board of Education: We support the decision of the Asbury Park Boa...On October 16, 2013 the elected school board members of the Asbury Park Board of Education, voted by majority to hire Gregory Allen as the Superintendent of schools. On November 13, 2013 the state monitor Carole Morris, over turned the vote of an elected school board majority. Ms. Carole Morris has denied the African American community of Asbury Park democracy. The Asbury Park Neptune NAACP is asking you to sign our petition to Commissioner Cerf, to overturn the decision of Carole Morris and uphold the vote of the elected board of education members of Asbury Park to hire Gregory Allen as the Superintendent of Schools. Additionally we seek an independent investigation of the reasoning of Carole Morris, to overturn the decision of an elected school board. Additionally Ms. Morris was the former Executive County Superintendent of Schools for Monmouth County and we wonder if there is a possible conflict of interest. The elected school board of Asbury Park is predominately African American and the candidate selected by the board is also African American. We find the actions of Ms. Carole Morris discriminatory and do not believe she would have overturned the decision of a predominately Caucasian school board majority. We support the democratic process and the vote of an elected school board majority to hire Gregory Allen as the Superintendent of Schools in Asbury Park, New Jersey.156 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Asbury Park Neptune NAACP
