Our schools need more protection.

How many more people have to die before we become a "civilized country"? July 20, 2012; 12 people killed in a movie theater in Colorado. December 11, 2012; 2 people killed in a mall in Oregon. December 15, 2012; 27 people killed in a school in Connecticut. We should be able to go on with our lives without fearing to be killed, whether it be in a movie theater, a shopping mall, a school, or anywhere else. It is time that our country enters the 21st Century. The false use of the second amendment to further an agenda without taking into consideration the damage that it is causing to our society needs to stop. It is time to ban the possession of semi-automatic weapons.

The horrendous shooting in Newtown, CT is one of the saddest moment in our time. It is also a reminder that we have a national problem of easy availability of guns in this country. I believe that these people should not be able to buy, own, or carry a gun anywhere in our nation: • Convicted felons • Convicted domestic abusers • Terrorists • People found to be dangerously mentally

SAVE OUR CHILDREN, GET RID OF THESE DANGEROUS GUNS,HELP THE MENTALLY ILL AND LET WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION BE SO VERY HARD TO GET,OR BAN ENTIRELY

Now is the time to reevaluate our mental healthcare system. I urge you to form an advisory group consisting parents of children afflicted by mental illness, high school and college mental health counselors, psychiatrists and even representatives from health insurance organizations to evaluate where we are failing our young adults with mental illness, and how we can realistically improve their chances of success in society. Mental illness crosses all classes, however it has been considered taboo, and thus not discussed. Let's bring this into the spotlight, let families know they are not fighting their battles alone, and find ways to get those suffering from mental illness into appropriate treatment programs.

Help stop the violence. Bring the arts back to schools and community centers to encourage our children to take a positive path.

Kids should be playing dodge ball instead of dodging bullets. We need after school programs and safe havens, for our innocent and precious angels .. pleaae find funding to open safe havens in local communities and teach each community to take a stand.... One community at a time......
