Oppose the new proposed 148-unit, 8 story luxury development at 2588 Mission St. @ 22nd A major fire destroyed the original iconic building killing 38 yr. old Mauricio Orellana, injuring 6 residents, displacing 60 residents, and destroying 26 small businesses in 2015. A new proposal is out and it's much bigger! It's now 181 unit, 10 story luxury development. It was updated in 2022.

The Municipal Transportation Authority (MTA) has placed a no-left turn barricade in the center of 24th St on the corner of 24th and Shotwell in the heart of the Latino Cultural District. This barricade will stop Carnaval SF from using 24th street for its parade route. This barricade will also impede on other events like Cesar Chavez Parade and Festival, Fiesta de Las Americas, and Dia Del Los Muertos Ritual Procession, creating safety issues for parade participants, visitors, and emergency vehicles during events. We are asking to remove the barricade and the no turns sign-on Shotwell. This was an ill-conceived idea without thinking about the Mission’s cultural economy and historic Carnaval SF that has used the route for decades. We are continuously disappointed by the MTA and its lack of knowledge of the Latinx community, cultural incompetence, and deafness to the needs of the Latinx community. Ayude a mantener el histórico Carnaval de San Francisco en la Calle 24 La Autoridad de Transporte Municipal (MTA) ha colocado una barricada que suprime la vuelta a la izquierda en el cruce de las calles 24 St y Shotwell, en el corazón del Distrito Cultural Latino. Esta barricada evitará que el desfile del Carnaval de San Francisco recorra la que ha sido tradicionalmente su ruta. También impedirá la realización de otros eventos como el Desfile y Festival de en honor a César Chávez, la Fiesta de las Américas y la Procesión y festividades del Día de Muertos, lo cual generaría problemas de seguridad para los participantes, visitantes y vehículos de emergencia. Pedimos que la barricada sea removida así como el señalamiento que restringe la vuelta en la calle Shotwell. Esta fue una idea mal concebida que no contempló la economía cultural de la Misión ni la realización del histórico Carnaval SF que ha utilizado esa ruta durante décadas. Continuamente nos hemos sentido decepcionados por la MTA y su falta de conocimiento de la comunidad Latinx, su incompetencia cultural y omisión de las necesidades de la comunidad Latinx.

The Second Amendment states: "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." It's time for the people to clarify that the Second Amendment only guarantees the right of the people to bear arms in a "well regulated militia", and that mere individuals are not a "well regulated militia".

While continuing to attempt to remain competitive for healthcare dollars many floors in many hospitals are dangerously understaffed. This poses many problems, first and most importantly patient welfare followed closely with staff burnout and turnover. Nurses are asked to do more each day and are penalized if not done in 12 hrs. Usually without lunch or any break. This is unacceptable to healthcare workers, patients and families.
