We, the undersigned, call on President Wolfe to • rescind his decision to shut down the Press and stop the layoffs of the current staff • guarantee that the citizens of Missouri and the University of Missouri continue to be served by the University of Missouri Press and that the Press continue to publish a broad range of important literary, scholarly, peer-reviewed, and Missouri-based books • guarantee that the Press continue to publish print books as it expands its already substantial list of digital editions and explores other opportunities presented by new media • follow the industry standard and establish an independent Advisory Board of alums, scholars, and editing professionals that would raise funds and oversee the direction of the Press • hire an experienced director for the Press so that it does not have to continue, as it has for the last three years, under “temporary” leadership • guarantee that the Press continue to train student interns but not use them to replace trained professionals

This war that brought up the patriot act is nothing but "wagging the dogs tail" which feeds off the paranioa and fear of the american people that there might or will be another 9/11. But the patriot act is unconstituional; due to the fact that if a father and son were talking about something that seemed suspicious that both could be arrested and held without a set limit, or that if an arab was to speak in his or her foreign language they would be placed as a suspect. how far are we willing to go to feel safe? whats next interment camps, we will become more than nothing but the shadows of the gestapo and the harbinger for another Republican "Nazism" in the united states. Dear Rochester Board of Education Commissioners, As you all have been notified, the following happened on August 26, 2012: Rochester Board of Education Commissioner Mary Adams, Mr. Hubert Wilkerson, and Commissioner Adams' husband, Mr. Ricardo Adams, charged into a community meeting in Rochester, NY where four Community Education Task Force (CETF) members were present. During the incident, which occurred at 6:46 PM on Sunday, August 26, 2012, Mr. Adams came in shouting, and verbally abused, threatened, and bullied the four Community Education Task Force members while Commissioner Adams stood by, watched, and said nothing. The following were Mr. Adams' exact words to us (verbatim): "If any of you mother f-ers come within 10 ft of my wife outside of a school board meeting, there's gonna be drama. I'm telling you, you're gonna have problems. Bunch of sorry, lying mother f-ers." I’m sure that you and the other Rochester Board of Education members will agree that, especially in light of the Rochester City School District's anti-bullying policy as well as ethics, morality, and civility in general, participation in and allowing this grossly inappropriate behavior is unbecoming and unacceptable for a School Board Commissioner. Commissioner Adams, Mr. Adams, and Mr. Wilkerson are aware that young children frequently attend these weekly Sunday meetings. It is fortunate that none were present on August 26th. Considering the circumstances outlined above and to prevent a harmful precedent from being set in regards to elected officials’ behavior in the community, I respectfully request that you and the other Board Commissioners compel Commissioner Adams to at least issue a written, public apology. A public apology is warranted as her involvement and participation in such reckless, irresponsible, and unprofessional action condoned the incident described above. Commissioner Adams has also caused an unnecessary hardship on a community group, the Community Education Task Force, which she helped establish, actively participated in and endorsed prior to her election. Time Warner Monopoly Price Gauging

With Microsoft pushing their WP7 OS out the wazoo, and Nokia's brilliant manufacturing on board, it isn't a surprise that the platform is gaining momentum. With three brand new devices appearing recently ( Lumia 900, HTC Titan II, Lumia 710) and their Marketplace surpassing 50,000 app submissions it's clear that people are interested in this young, yet capable, OS. Today Sprint's VP of product realization David Owens talked to PC Mag about the lack of WP7 devices appearing at CES this year. Owens explained his concerns with Windows Phone and why Sprint has only released one device (the HTC Arrive) running Microsoft's mobile OS thus far. "We have a Windows device in our lineup, but honestly, it hasn't done well enough for us to jump back into the fire," he told PC Mag, adding that the number one reason that the Arrive was returned to stores was the user experience. Sprint director of product development Lois Fagan chimed in by saying that the carrier wants to take part in selling the devices, but that Microsoft needs to help build excitement around the platform. Owens said that Sprint is considering giving Windows Phone another shot around the "August-September period." But why should we fans be forced to wait, at the very least, 8 more months for another device? Owens honestly cannot think that releasing one mid-range device, among a plethora of mid-range and flagship Android phones, is going to draw peoples attention towards to platform. As customers we are asking for a choice in what devices we buy and not be forced to choose from a single phone for this platform. Every other OS on Sprint has more than one device to choose from, even Brew MP. I ask that you sign this petition, even if you're not a fan of WP7, to support customer choice for this carrier. We die hard Sprint customers simply want more choice with all of these great WP7 device popping up.
