We, the undersigned, are concerned residents of Del Rio Ranch. We urge our leaders to act now to reject the application to build a Family Dollar Store on the northeast corner of El Mirage and Lower Buckeye Rd.

"I'm not going to shoot you brother." West Virginian officer Stephen Mader has been fired for NOT shooting a distressed man. A girlfriend calls 911 because her boyfriend is threatening to kill himself. When officer Mader arrived at the scene, this boyfriend, Ronald Williams, tried provoking Mader. He was looking for a 'suicide by cop,' as later explained. He said things like "just shoot me" and repeatedly flicked his wrist holding an unloaded gun to get a reaction. Mader never shot, correctly analyzing the situation as not dangerous to anyone other than Williams himself. Moments later, two more cops came to the scene. Williams began waving his unloaded gun and walking towards them. Williams was then shot and killed by one of the officers. Mader was later fired from the department for not "eliminating a threat." Despite there not being any. Stephen Mader has spent his entire life serving his countrymen, both in Afghanistan as a Marine and here at home. He's done so much for this country, let's help get him a new job at a department that admires his restraint and professionalism.

The bill requires higher education institutions to have individuals trained in mental health issues and focused on suicide prevention available around-the-clock either on campus or remotely via telephone. Colleges also would be required to inform students of the service via email no later than 15 days after the start of each semester.

Our state needs an educated workforce, and every child deserves a great education. We support education legislation and ballot measures to fully fund and restore our schools in the following ways: 1. Increased, fair, long-term education funding from stable sources, including restoring commercial property taxes, empowering local communities to tax themselves by a 55% threshold vote, and extending the sales tax to luxury services. 2. Spend Education funds in proven effective ways for restoring schools to greatness, including universal preschool, increasing the base grant per child, and funding our once great three-tier higher education system to rebuild and keep pace with our growing population.
