Bring charges of treason against Donald Trump and his Republican allies and supporters (including, “Proud Boys,” and Ted Cruz and all who were planning to object to the election results on January 6th). They were/are an assemblage..for a treasonable purpose, effecting by force a treasonable object...all those who performed any part, however remote from the scene of action and who were actually leagued in the general conspiracy, to be considered as traitors. This was a planned, organized insurrection achieved by use of the Internet and social media. Mobs, encouraged by Trump and others such as Rudy Giuliani calling for “trial by combat,” intimidated Congress, or attempted to do so, with the goal of betraying the government and the Constitution of the United States, by overturning the presidential election, ultimately by burning the Electoral College votes.

The Equality in Policing Act is the short name for URLEIA (The Uniform Reporting Law Enforcement Improvement Act), which is a sweeping legislative proposal that will revamp policing from the ground up. Once enacted, URLEIA will end police brutality and stem the tide of mass incarceration. We ask congressional leaders to learn about URLEIA, support URLEIA and enact URLEIA into law in its most complete form. In his 20 years at the helm of the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, former Sheriff Don Hunter said the disappearances of Felipe Santos and Terrance Williams are among the top cases that continue to haunt him. But there is more in Sheriff Hunter’s closet than meets the eye at first glance. During his tenure as Sheriff, numerous civil rights violations occurred and Hunter was right there in the middle as a willing participant through his knowledge of the offenses and his lack of responsiveness when brought to his attention. "Every agency head of some tenure ... is going to encounter perplexing and odd, bizarre cases," Hunter said in a phone interview with CNN. "This is mine." In this interview, Hunter was referring to the disappearance of two minority citizens of Collier County who were last seen alive by former Collier deputy Steven Calkins, who was fired after (http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2012/04/disappearance_of_2_florida_men.htm) Hunter said he became uncooperative in the investigations. The men, who didn't know each other, went missing at different times. Santos was reported missing after he was involved in a minor traffic accident in North Naples in October 2003. Terrance Williams was last seen near a Naples cemetery in January 2004. A former Collier County Sheriff's deputy, then Corporal Steve Calkins, is believed to be the last person to see both of the men. During an internal investigation Calkins failed a polygraph test pertaining to contact with Terrance Williams and ultimately refused to cooperate, according to Hunter. It is no surprise that when one of Naples own civil rights protectors brought attention to the lack of institution and organizational control at the Collier County Sheriff’s office that he too would encounter the wrath of Sheriff Hunter and his certified and uniformed associates. Upon meeting Victor Valdes the first thing that you would think is that this man could be your father, grandfather, uncle or a member of your family. Victor Valdes was born in Cuba and migrated to the United States like many other Cubans fleeing the oppressive communist government of Fidel Castro. Victor settled in the then sleepy town of Naples, Florida to pursue a peaceful quiet life. For many years the journalist Victor A. Valdes used his First Amendment rights under the United States Constitution to publicly denounce corruption and abuse of minorities (especially Hispanics), allegedly perpetrated by some members of the Collier County Sheriff’s Office. In the service of the Hispanic Community and other minorities that requested his assistance, the journalist Valdes investigated and denounced acts of excessive use of force, the death of an individual allegedly at the hands of a police officer, and instances of improper conduct. These acts of defiance did not sit well with Sheriff Hunter. Today, Valdes and a broad-based group of community members reach out via moveon.org to request that those of you who favor justice and love the laws of this Great Nation to demand an investigation and rectification of the injustice committed against Victor A. Valdes and his daughter-in-law Odalys Duquesne. On his webpage titled JUSTICE FOR VICTOR A VALDES, you will see evidence of perjuries committed by deputies Larry White and David Greve of the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, which they used to deceive the judge and honorable members of the jury in the case and led to the conviction and punishment of Valdes and his daughter-in-law. In these public files, you will also be able to judge for yourself how the Collier County Sheriff’s office made an examples of the journalist Victor Valdes aimed at halting his public cries and complaints to bring light to the injustices taking place within the Collier County Sheriff’s office. We urge you to sign the petition and strike a blow against the injustice committed against this journalist and hero of the Collier County community. Send a message to the powers that be that injustice will never be tolerated at any level and does not come with a statue of limitation. In America we like to believe justice is blind and equal. The real fact of our justice system is that it is blind and equal only when we the people demand it to be so, for all.

It has been twenty-six years since George Bush signed the Americans with Disabilities Act into law in 1990, granting disabled persons access to all public lands and spaces. The A.D.A. states in part that, "People with disabilities have the right to choose whatever mobility device best suits their needs." Federal and state Medicare and Medicaid programs put into place prior to 1990 have never been brought into compliance with the law, however, and still stipulate that the mobility devices they provide are, "for in-the-home use only. " Medicare and Medicaid programs are in violation of the A.D.A. We, the undersigned, hereby petition Congress to bring Medicare and Medicaid into compliance with the A.D.A. by having all references to mobility devices in federal Medicare and Medicaid documents that use the term, "in the home" amended to say, "in the home, on any public lands, or in any other places that the disabled have legal access rights to under the A.D.A." and that all references to mobility devices be amended to include the phrase, "of the disabled person's own choice."

Raising the specter of more foreign interference in the 2016 election, the New York Times reported Saturday, May 19th that a company connected to Australian entrepreneur Joel Zamel worked on a proposal for a covert multimillion-dollar online manipulation campaign to help elect Donald Trump. The plan, put together by a company called Psy-Group, involved using thousands of fake social media accounts to promote Mr. Trump’s candidacy on platforms such as Facebook. Psy-Group's motto is "Shape reality." Erik Prince, the GOP donor and Blackwater founder teamed with George Nader, an emissary for two wealthy Arab princes, to introduce Zamel to Donald Trump Jr. Leaders in the House and Senate should require Mark Zuckerberg to return to Capitol Hill to testify on companies such as Psy-Group, if and how these companies employed fake accounts on political campaigns in the US and abroad, any overlap with the Russian election interference campaign, and what if anything these companies did on behalf of Donald Trump, his campaign, or related PACs.

Have you noticed how much President Obama has aged some 6 years into his presidency? It’s also true of his predecessors, George Bush and Bill Clinton. The pressure and stress of serving as Commander in Chief of our country takes its toll. However, this is not true of Congress where tenure is not limited to 8 years. Many members of congress have been serving 20 or more years and a dozen or so 40 years and at least one, 50+. Do they looked stressed out, aged early? No siree, Bob, they don’t! The only way they leave is via a gurney or retire at that point in their lives when they can no longer bend over and take a payoff. Some become pretty, while others pose for men’s magazines or develop rich, dark tans trying to resemble people from whom they would like to deprive of voting rights. Term limits for congress would cure this habitual diseased behavior. And let’s put leashes on the Supreme Court, too.

The New Windsor Dial-a-Bus program must be restored. With its termination, New Windsor Seniors and Disabled New Windsor Residents of every age have been deprived of their independence and, as a consequence, have become socially isolated. They have been forced to become dependent on neighbors, friends and family for basic needs. As a result, they perceive themselves as burdens on their loved ones. This is demeaning to them and wrong for our Town.
