State and local leaders have acknowledged the harmful presence of the agents and have demanded they leave. The acting secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf has refused. Ask Governor Brown and Mayor Wheeler to send local and state officers to protect protesters from the illegal actions of federal agents.

The New Windsor Dial-a-Bus program must be restored. With its termination, New Windsor Seniors and Disabled New Windsor Residents of every age have been deprived of their independence and, as a consequence, have become socially isolated. They have been forced to become dependent on neighbors, friends and family for basic needs. As a result, they perceive themselves as burdens on their loved ones. This is demeaning to them and wrong for our Town.

Community residents in the Kingsboro/Bulluck neighborhood and neighboring communities in Tarboro and Rocky Mount, NC are demanding that the Edgecombe County Board of Commissioners vote NO on the sale of county-owned land in Kingsboro Business Park to Energy Storage Solutions for a $6 billion, 300-megawatt data center, citing a lack of clarity about community economic benefits, projected impact on resident energy costs, and concerns for long-term environmental and health risks. Edgecombe County economic development must prioritize its own residents -- not big technology companies, not the exploitative AI infrastructure that helps them grow even bigger -- and focus on protecting our rural community resources and quality of life. As Steve Schmidt, former aide to Senator John McCain, put it, Trump's "cascade of falsehoods" all through the campaign and now in office, is "a direct assault on the very idea of representative democracy." Republicans, democrats, independents and all who are of other persuasions, parties or movements, we must join forces now against the blatant mendacity clamoring and twittering at us in the news from the White House. Gun manufacturers should be civilly liable for the injuries and deaths that result from their products. Product liability should be applied to assault weapons as with any other dangerous product. In 2000, there was a rise in the same kind of lawsuits that hobbled the tobacco industry against gun manufacturers. As a result, gun manufacturers stepped up their lobbying, and in 2005, George W. Bush signed a law that shields gun makers from being sued. The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act is commonly known as the "Gun Protection Act." The law dismissed all current claims against gun manufacturers in both federal and state courts and pre-empted future claims. The law stated: "To prohibit causes of action against manufacturers, distributors, dealers, and importers of firearms or ammunition products, and their trade associations, for the harm caused solely by the criminal or unlawful misuse of firearm products or ammunition products by others when the product functioned as designed and intended." This is the same law that protected gun manfacturers from a lawsuit brought by parents of Sandy Hook shooting victims. Enough. Let them justify their product in court.
