  • Tell the Department of the Interior: Don’t let Trump destroy Bears Ears!
I strongly oppose the Trump Administration’s unlawful efforts to strip protections for Bears Ears National Monument. If the BLM moves forward with the planning process at this time, it will likely be a colossal waste of time and money for an already strapped agency, as these new proclamations are expected to be overturned by the courts. The BLM should spend its money on protecting Bears Ears and its natural and cultural resources. The BLM should look to the current monument management plan, and strive to protect important and sensitive resources throughout the original proclamation area, including cultural, natural/ecological, paleontological, geological resources, as well as Tribal sacred lands and resources as described in Proclamation 9558 (Dec. 28, 2016). Moreover, the public comment period should extend to at least ninety days following the last public hearing. Public hearings should be scheduled in Salt Lake City, Utah, Flagstaff, Arizona, Denver, Colorado, Washington D.C. and Albuquerque, New Mexico, in addition to the gateway communities of the Bears Ears National Monument. Thank you,

  • Springfield - Fix our Renewable Energy Portfolio Standard Now!
To Gov. Quinn and Illinois lawmakers, Please move forward in fixing the Renewable (Energy) Portfolio Standard, (RPS), now! Reports are that the fix to the RPS, SB103/HB2864, has been stalled in Springfield by Exelon, (owner of the nuclear power plants), and some Alternative Retail Electric Suppliers (ARES). This "fix" would allow for a no-cost, (to ratepayers), kick start to the broken Renewable (Energy) Portfolio Standard in IL. It would drive the funding for new renewable energy production in our state and create thousands of new green jobs. Do not leave town without kick starting our renewable energy renaissance and our green jobs! We can not wait for some "deal" to made - we need to build renewable energy as fast as we can to mitigate climate change and we want those green jobs! ACT NOW for your Constituents, for Humanity and for the Planet. For more information go to: http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20140515/NEWS11/140519854/clean-energy-law-revamp-is-dead

  • A Plan to Save Syria
We propose the following comprehensive approach to Syria designed to provide a neutral, non-sectarian governing body, restore security and build prosperity through rebuilding the country. Similar to the German Marshall Plan: 1) Put Syria under the governance of a temporary governing body composed of representatives of the United Nations. 2) Create a rebuilding program that offers jobs to every able-bodied person -- rebuilding cities and infrastructure, caring for sick and wounded, planting and harvesting and distributing food and food aid; providing education for children and all illiterate, transport, road building, etc. 3) Demand that all sectarian violence cease. Perpetrators of violence will be ejected from the country. Only those committed to restoring their country for the benefit of all will be allowed to stay and participate in the new economy. No retributions from either side will be allowed. 4) Ensure that contracts are fairly awarded and contribute to building new businesses and developing skills, rather than being awarded to multi-national corporations and corrupt Assad cronies and relatives.

  • Label GMOs in Maine now!
Please support LD 991, an act to amend Maine's genetically modified food products labeling law. The bill, introduced this year, already has strong bipartisan support, with both Republican and Democratic sponsors. In 2013, Maine passed a law requiring the mandatory labeling of foods made with genetically modified organisms (GMOs). But that law contains a trigger clause stating that the law can't be enacted unless five contiguous states, including New Hampshire, also pass mandatory GMO labeling laws. I don't want to wait for New Hampshire, or any other state, before I have the right to know what I am feeding my family. Citizens in more than 60 other countries have the right to this basic information. Studies prove that the cost of adding this information to a label is negligible for food manufacturers, retailers and consumers. Please lead on this issue, which is important to consumers and to Maine's strong local food and farming economy. Thank you.

  • Class Action Lawsuit Restrictions of Constitutional Rights Listed in The First Amendment
Greetings, we have been trying to get so many stories out about all that’s happening right here in our community. We have been striped away from our God given constitutional rights. On October 6th 2022 in Gulfport Ms. a 15 year old young African American boy was murdered by a Gulfport Police officer. They have not been transported with the family nor community since that day. The chief Adam Cooper did a press conference that was more of a rant at the end of October followed up with the Mayor Billie Hewes backing him. The family have called the local new stations for many events that was planned so that they can tell their story, but each time the news never aired the event nor stories. They have followed and filmed the entirety of many protests and still no story. There are trying to keep Jaheim’s story from being televised. It’s past time for change, we demand Justice, transparency and the same rights every other person get.

  • Close the slavery loophole in PA!
It is well known that slavery has long been abolished in the United States. However, the U.S. Constitution and several states exempt slavery as a form of punishment for crime. The good news is PA's constitution does not have a written exemption for slavery. The bad news is that there is no mention of slavery at all. Without an explicit ban, the door is left open for excessive punishment at the state level. Laws do exist on the PA books against slavery, but laws are not as secure as the constitution. State legislators, including my state senator Lindsey Williams of PA's 38th senatorial district, can make our constitution clear on this matter. It will take two successive state legislative sessions to make this a reality. It does not require the governor's signature; once it passes two successive sessions, it will be put to Pennsylvanians for a vote. Nine states have already made this a reality. They include Alabama, Tennessee, Nebraska, Utah, Colorado, Oregon, Vermont, Rhode Island, and Nevada. If they have done it, Pennsylvania can do it as well. Let's close the loophole for good!

  • Support meal kit workers at HelloFresh who are organizing a union
Workers at HelloFresh are organizing a union to make their jobs safer and more sustainable at the largest meal kit company in the United States. While HelloFresh profited from the pandemic, employees faced disrespect, a COVID-19 outbreak, and preventable injuries. HelloFresh profited tremendously from the COVID crisis. HelloFresh sold more than 278 million meals in the US in 2020 – a more than 100% increase over 2019, while global revenues doubled to $4.4 billion. We know what happens when thousands of new jobs are created in new industries overnight with little regard to the dignity or the safety of work. Today’s meal kit factory kitchens are yesterday’s garment factories. We demand that HelloFresh lead the meal kit industry by adding worker safety and respect to their boxes and ensuring sustainable jobs that families can live on and consumers can feel good about. We call on HelloFresh to not harass or intimidate workers for organizing a union and to cancel your anti-union consultant.

  • Protect abortion access: stockpile the abortion pill!
States are leading the fight to protect abortion access by stockpiling mifepristone, a drug that has been a safe and effective abortion medication and miscarriage treatment for 20 years.   In February, lawmakers in Connecticut cleared the way to safeguard large quantities of the drug, following the lead of Oregon, California, New York, New Jersey, Washington, Massachusetts, and Maryland in securing access to commonly used abortion medications.  Mifepristone is a FDA-approved, overwhelmingly safe medication—even safer than other commonly prescribed low-risk drugs like penicillin and Viagra. But that hasn’t stopped attacks from anti-abortion extremists in states like Idaho, Missouri, and Kansas as they move forward with lawsuits to restrict access to this medical care. And Trump has scrutinized the safety of the pill, despite more than 100 scientific studies proving it to be an incredibly safe and effective option for people seeking abortions. Add your name to the petition urging governors and state legislatures nationwide to follow the lead of these seven states and take precautions to safeguard reproductive rights.

  • Save Ivan Cantu Before the State of Texas Kills Him
Texas plans to execute Ivan Cantu on February 28, 2024. Ivan Cantu was convicted of killing his cousin, James Mosqueda, and Mosqueda’s fiancée, Amy Kitchen, in 2001. But there is so much wrong with the case against him, including false testimony, evidence withheld by prosecution, and key witnesses later recanted. Even jurors support his appeals, believing they did not hear all the evidence at trial. Sign the petition to demand that Collin County DA Greg Willis request to withdraw the execution date in light of new evidence just disclosed by his own office, showing that the star witness falsely testified against Ivan and lied in her testimony. Add your name now to urge Governor Greg Abbott to grant a stay of execution for Ivan Cantu until all new evidence can be examined. Our criminal justice system has failed Ivan. The DA and Governor Abbott must intervene before it's too late.

  • Tell Obama: Don't Deport Immigrants to their Death! Stop the Raids!
Our community has been directly impacted by these raids by having ICE agents engaged in civil right violations—from showing up at doors unannounced, entering homes without warrants, waking up sleeping children, arresting students at bus stops on their way to school, and taking away families to detention centers, where loved ones will spend months until they are deported back to some of the most dangerous countries in the world.
