I strongly urge you not to approve or support New York University’s massive planned 20-year expansion plan in the Village. The plan is not only wrong for the Village and surrounding neighborhoods, which would be severely impacted, but for New York City and even NYU itself. The plan requires undoing long-standing neighborhood zoning and open space protections and urban renewal deed restrictions, as well as selling off public land used as parks. NYU would shoehorn 2.5 million square feet of space – the equivalent of the Empire State Building! – into an area south of Washington Square Park which simply cannot absorb it. It would drastically tip the balance of this and surrounding neighborhoods. At best, in a mere 20 years, NYU would be back, asking for more zoning changes and more public land to expand further. There are much better alternatives. In the Financial District such development would be contextual and welcome, adding to the diversity of that growing neighborhood. It would be just a few minutes by subway and walking distance from NYU’s main hubs in Washington Square and Downtown Brooklyn. It would allow NYU vastly greater possibilities for future growth, and in a way that would help the city, not strangle and overwhelm some of its most historic and delicately-balanced neighborhoods. Please vote AGAINST the approvals for NYU’s massive 20 year expansion plan!

President Obama as you prepare your speech for Thursday night we are asking you to fight for us, the Middle Class. Our numbers are shrinking, many of us have been without jobs for 2 or 3 years while the upper class is becoming richer and richer. We ask you to PLEASE give up on working with the Congressional Republicans, they WILL NOT support you they simply want you out! They do not care about us they are beholden to the corporations who gave them the funds to be in office.

STOP! the deportation of Fredy Mencia, who is scheduled to be deported on Friday, June 26. Fredy has been in the U.S. for over 15 years. He is married and has three small children, all of whom were born in the United States. Fredy has no criminal record and has held the same job since he came to the U.S. He is a devoted husband and loving father. He is well-respected by all who know him and has established strong ties to our community by serving as a local church leader for over a decade. Please help us keep his family together.

Recently the Trump Administration changed the law regarding domestic violence. For years, the laws of domestic violence spread across numerous factors of abuse including mental, emotional, financial, and physical abuse. However, The Trump Administration recently changed it so that individuals are only victims to domestic violence if they are physically abused. They are removing the danger of men and women being emotionally, personally, psychologically, and financially abused, which are the largest forms of domestic violence as statistics show. I would like the Trump Administration to undo the change and revert back to what the law has outlined for almost fifty years.

Please stop interrupting regular TV programming to cover President Donald Trump. The Impeachment hearings and trial were of such significance that media coverage was understandable. The State of the Union Speech is traditionally broadcast, of course, However, covering the president's remarks on Thursday, February 6th was unnecessary. The American people do not want regularly scheduled programming interrupted to give this incumbent president a platform every time he decides to make an address. It is free airtime that isn't afforded and isn't fair to other candidates. Not to mention it is annoying to those who've heard quite enough insult and braggadociousness from Donald J. Trump.

As your constituents in the Arizona 6th congressional district, we the undersigned call on you to cosponsor and actively support the Women's Health Protection Act to codify Roe into federal law and to cosponsor and support the Freedom to Decide Act to protect access to the abortion pill and ensure doctors can provide telemedicine services across state lines to people in need of health care. Saturday, June 24 is the 1-year anniversary of the Dobbs decision, which overturned an almost 50-year constitutional right—in fact, the first time the Supreme Court has removed an individual right. Since that decision was handed down, 14 states have banned abortions, and about half of the states are expected to enact abortion bans or significant limits on the procedure. Ending a pregnancy is a personal and private decision—often entailing issues of life and death—that must be returned to the control of the pregnant people. To mark the anniversary of the day people across the country lost the right to their personal liberty and ability to control their lives, it is incumbent on you to do everything you can to restore that right.
