Bill S 2838, An Act Upgrading the Grid and Protecting Ratepayers, was not passed at the statehouse before the end of this legislative session. That represents a major cause for concern among the residents of Massachusetts. Members of the Senate & House needed to reconcile an abridged version of this bill that could • expedite siting and permitting issues (while promoting environmental justice) for companies building electrical infrastructure; and, • Put Gas In The Past - by halting expansion of the natural gas infrastructure. With the leaders of the Senate and House blaming each other for the failure to pass this bill, this is hardly the time for catfighting. With this bill two years in the making, that this bill did not go forward even in an abridged state leaves ratepayers where they started, at ground zero.   One fact is clear: the timeline toward improving our environment is growing shorter.   The House MUST reconvene to pass this bill.

I oppose the Department of the Interior's plan to expand dangerous offshore oil and gas drilling. Drilling off our coasts increases the threat of devastating oil spills and poses grave risks to our coastal communities and marine life. I urge you to halt the proposed offshore drilling plan and protect our coasts!

Taxing Internet stores like Amazon and e-bay will only add an unnecessary tax to Internet shoppers. That tax will do nothing to help small businesses in his state or any other. A tax on Internet purchases will not encourage anyone to buy from a local vendor if that vendor cannot provide the products that are sold on the Internet. He claims that small businesses in the states will get more sales but what if there are no local vendors who sell what is available on that vast network of vendors who sell on line. Roy Blunt apparently favors another "big government program".
