    There's a slave burial ground in the Hunts Point section of the Bronx and we need your help remembering and memorializing the slaves of Drake Park in a sustained way. This means that it'll take more than a plaque to memorialize their hidden ancestral legacy. This issue is of significant importance in the Bronx and in the New York City Community at large. The memorial should be examined as a visiting institution so persons across the US can learn the history of the persons buried in the Bronx County and remembered for years to come.

  • Emergency unemployment compensation extension through 2014
    Please continue to help the people who are in this position due to the economy being so bad. This money will help thousands of people who truly need it to get by. I know it has been very helpful to me, so I can take care of my two children (babies) while I search high and low for a new job.     We would like to preserve our community to single family homes, however developers have a completely different idea... Two construction projects will bring 37 new homes where there once were only 5. We are asking for a reduction in quantity of houses, all houses face the street (no flag lots), single family homes (no condos or apartments). We are asking for the neighborhood to come together and tell the city we like our quiet neighborhoods and we will fight to keep it the way it is.

  • Stop Fracking in Pennsylvania
    Radioactivity is one of the most important environmental impacts of fracking for natural gas and it is being ignored. Each day radioactive wastewater is dumped into our waterways which eventually finds its way into our drinking water. In addition, our water treatment plants are sending radioactive sludge from the Fracking process across state lines. The open box cars which are being used to transport the sludge are contaminating ever community as they journey to dump sites in New York or Ohio.

    Congress and the President must act now to prevent a devastating doubling of the student loan interest rate. On July 1, 2012, student loan interest rates on new Stafford loans will double from 3.4% to a whopping 6.8%. This change could mean up to $11,000 of additional student loan debt for the 8 million students who use these loans every year. Students working to get an education are the future of our country and our economy. We need to relieve student debt, not increase it.
