AT&T is in the final stages of getting city permits for an unmanned facility of 12 panel antennas and 24 remote radio header units atop 6522 La Mirada Ave. in Zone: RD1.5-1XL. Putting up this tower puts all of the people in that building at a health risk- bombarding them with electromagnetic waves 24 hours a day. Congress has been voting themselves raises while the rest of the US has been receiving pay cuts, reduced benefits, loss of 401(k) value. This petition seeks to cut Congress and the rest of the federal employee's benefits to a 401(k) program and Medicare as their health provider. Additionally, Congress would no longer be able to raise their own pay. Raises for Congress would require a public vote. With no pension and a 401(k) and Medicare, Congress will think long and hard about changes to the program because they would be cutting their benefits too. Congress can opt for a supplement medicare insurance program paid for out of their own pocket.

They tried to get this permit on August 19th at a hearing at the LA Dept. of City Planning, and THEY WERE DENIED!! Twenty-two neighbors attended and testified. We fought them hard and we won! This is their 2nd try. And, that’s what this 2nd hearing is about: getting the permit to change the height of buildings in Hollywood, so they can put the towers and equipment up. AT&T is appealing a decision they lost once, already! This is their last chance and we cannot allow them to win! If they do, it would open the door for, not only other taller buildings - but any other phone and/or technology company that wants to follow suit. A Temporary Protected Status or TPS is just that- temporary, and that is the main issue. Take Salvadorans nationals for example that were granted TPS status after the 2001 earthquake, it shook the nation and took countless of lives, now years later those who were granted this Protected Status after such devastation are finding themselves more settled in the country that was once foreign. These few Salvadorans granted this status have now reached their 16 year mark, in these years they have become accustomed to the “American way of life” many hold jobs, have children and have formed families, they have also contributed to the economy by buying houses, building successful businesses, they are everyday people, they are the very essence on which this country was founded on. However, due to their status they also live in doubt, the status was put forth to protect these individuals and if this protection comes to an end they would be left vulnerable. With presidential elections right around the corner, the status of these immigrants could be left at the mercy of an unknown variable. We are urging politicians, community members, and anyone willing to listen to take a stand and voice for the rights of TPS holders. We are asking to the powers that can make these individuals hold Resident Status to grant this request.
