Montana Republicans have no reason to censure or discipline Rep Zephyr. Zooey Zephyr is the first trans woman to be elected to the Montana House of Representatives. After several attempts by the Montana GOP to pass anti-trans bills over the past couple of weeks in session, Rep. Zephyr spoke passionately about how dangerous and violent any legislation would be that sought to limit or eliminate transgender people’s ability to seek gender-affirming care in Montana. Now they're viciously seeking to silence her, her voice and her impact with this vote to censure her. This is a direct attack on democracy and civil rights.

This summer's deadly floods, wildfire smoke, and drought conditions are climate change's calling cards. On July 22, the climate countdown clock ticked down to less than 6 years left to act if we are to avoid 1.5C degrees of warming. Pennsylvania is making an outsized contribution to the climate crisis as the second biggest methane gas producing state. We all need to rein in consumption of fossil fuels, but in Pennsylvania we need to do more. Governor Shapiro, Legislators, we demand the implementation of an aggressive action plan to transition away from greenhouse gas production.

This reversal is dangerous, especially in moments of stress, or for people with limited health literacy or impaired vision. We propose a low-cost, no-reagent visual format that eliminates confusion by using a permanently fixed perpendicula  or diagonal line to form unmistakable symbols: A plus sign (+) or an X = positive — fentanyl detected A negative verified between 2 lines = negative — no fentanyl detected These visual cues are: Compatible with current chemistry (no reagents or re-approval needed) Nearly costless to implement (just printed overlays or lines) Consistent with FDA guidance on intuitive health communication Lives aren’t being lost because test strips fail — they’re being lost because the results aren’t clear. Let’s fix that.
