  • Twin Towers Day
The largest scale attack on our homeland in history taking the lives of over 50,000 people. A national holiday of remembrance should be designated the first Tuesday of September since the attack was on a Tuesday. This would put it the day after Labor Day allowing a "four day weekend" of remembrance and reverence.

  • End Fluoridation now!
“It is apparent that fluorides have the ability to interfere with the functions of the brain.” — the National Research Council (2006) Water fluoridation has been banned in many countries including: China, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, Hungary, and Japan. Nearly all of Europe’s water supply is fluoride-free. And yet, fluoride is omnipresent in the American food supply. It’s in our water, in juice, soda, wine and coffee, in soups and processed food, and in baby formula. The majority of American cities have fluoridated water. Many people think they can avoid fluoride by just using fluoride-free toothpaste. However, fluoride isn’t just in toothpaste. Almost all of the beverages sold in stores and restaurants are made with tap water. People who drink those beverages ingest a fair amount of added fluoride. We consume fluoride from the following sources: Toothpaste with fluoride Baby formula Foods cooked in fluoride Canned soup, or soup in restaurants Mechanically deboned chicken (i.e. chicken nuggets) Food cooked in Teflon cookware Soda pop and soft drinks Fruit juice (unless it is fresh-squeezed at home) Beer and wine (unless they are imported from Europe or other areas that don’t fluoridate the water) Coffee and tea (if made with fluoridated water) Packaged and processed foods Anesthetics Fluoridated salt Cigarettes Fluoride also affects the pineal gland. Studies by Jennifer Luke (2001) show that fluoride accumulates in the human pineal gland to very high levels. In her Ph.D. thesis, Luke has also shown in animal studies that fluoride reduces melatonin production and leads to an earlier onset of puberty (Luke 1997). Consistent with Luke’s findings, one of the earliest fluoridation trials in the U.S. (Schlesinger 1956) reported that on average young girls in the fluoridated community reached menstruation 5 months earlier than girls in the non-fluoridated community. Please sign this and let Congress you want an end to fluoridation now!

  • VETERAN BENEFITS, Increase post 9/11 G.I. bill length and it's housing allowance year round by De...
    * The post 9/11 G. I. Bill should be 48 months and the Basic Allowance Housing stipend should be year round. “In July of 2008 the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill was signed into law, creating a new robust education benefits program rivaling the original WWII Era G.I. Bill of Rights. The new Post 9/11 G.I. Bill benefits are tiered based on the amount of creditable active-duty service the service members and Veterans have since Sept. 10, 2001. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) will then pay the tuition and fees directly to the accredited state operated colleges or universities or accredited non-college degree granting institutions where the service members and Veterans are enrolled. The Post 9/11 G.I. Bill also includes a provision, the yellow ribbon program (YRP), to help students avoid some or all of the out- of-pocket tuition and fees that would exceed the amount covered by the Post 9/11 G.I. Bill per semester. The YRP is not automatic as schools must voluntarily enter into an agreement with the VA to share the expense.” The arrival of the revised G.I. Bill, whose history goes back to the post-WWII years, guaranteed educational benefits, and under the tutelage of federal agencies, pledged to compensate returning service-members and their dependents for their sacrifices. The entitlements include the highest state tuition and sometimes possible full tuition to particular schools for a period of 36 months, a housing stipend paid out based on the anticipated cost of living for the particular zip code, the opportunity to transfer benefits to immediate family members, and expanded admission to higher education for many Veterans. The new celebrated change of education benefits became widespread and was met with high expectations as this rendition of the G.I. Bill achieves an unprecedented standard and quality of benefits and is indeed a more robust education benefit program. However, there are many cracks in the system and there are certain issues that still need to be addressed because it does not account for some missing key pieces that are still required to provide a complete picture. Government officials and an assortment of VA-issued organizations have overlooked the physical facilitation and implementation of the newly amended legislations. Institutions of higher education and the Veterans they serve all across the nation continue to voice complaints about the lack of guidance in the debacle of the education benefits they are willing to deliver. Since its foundation, the most generous summation of dealing with filing methods through VA has been the expression “archaic.” On the back-end of the misinterpreted entitlements are the terms that lack concrete definition; terms like tuition and fees. While one would assume that tuition and fees would include all costs associated with the school, the correction stands to be that the word fees do not include room and board. Building on personal knowledge, this had nearly turned into an utmost unpleasant experience. Now the living expenses does mean what it’s supposed to be for but when you read the problems that come with it, you will understand why it’s not the solution it was meant for. Wherever there is affluence and a welfare state, people use their own available resources to get places. When the resources available are known to be limited and there is no provision for unforeseen circumstances this can adversely affect the Veteran’s financial and emotional wellbeing. When it comes to limits or circumstances that are foreseen and can sometimes be addressed prior to facing them, the emotional strain can be a serious issue for the Veterans. The payment gaps for Veteran sustainment during academic recess is one of the big concerns that we wanted to address in this article. If, for example, the semester ends on December 20th for a particular school, then the Veteran will receive benefits pro-rated on a per diem scale – the evaluation of this payment is an equation where the monthly total sum is divided by 30 days, and multiplied by the amount of days that the student-Veteran will actually attend for that month. In this case, the imbursement will be two-thirds of the regular sum. If the next semester doesn’t start until January 17th, the Veteran will receive the last payment for the previous semester on January 1st for the pro-rated amount of December. The next payment that the Veteran would receive in this example would be February 1st for the pro-rated amount of January. The problem that this causes is that Veteran is not getting paid for almost a full month period of time in the middle of the school year and being compensated only for the days in attendance. Another example is the spring and summer break where the Veterans also do not get their BAH. This break in payment (BAH) is one of the biggest problems that Veterans who are enrolled in school face in order to live comfortably. These are some of the typical scenarios th...

The electoral college was established when people could not get to the polls. Since this is no longer an issue, it should be discontinued and replaced by a popular vote by the American people.

  • Mandatory Sexual Education is Vital For Teens in Our World of 7 Billion
The need for formal and modern sexual education is essential because of our exponentially growing population. The correlation between sexual education and teen pregnancy is striking; according to the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States, when teenagers do not formally receive sexual education they are 50% more likely to become pregnant. By educating teenagers in secondary schools about contraceptives, we can reduce unintentional pregnancies and improve the odds of teenagers having healthy, responsible, and mutually protective relationships with their partner(s).

  • Fire Sarah Sanders for refusing to do her job and answer questions
Sarah Huckabee Sanders has spent her tenure forcing people to submit to her right wing evangelical beliefs. She is hired to answer questions from the press corps for the American people who pay her. She needs to be fired for not doing her job and losing her temper time and time again. She obviously has an anger management problem which needs to be contained. A normal employee would be fired from a normal job for refusing to fulfill her duties. A normal person would most certainly be dismissed for displaying the kind of anger issues Ms. Sanders exhibits behind the podium. Please dismiss Sarah Huckabee Sanders for insubordination, rudeness, anger issues, lying and refusing to do her job. The American public deserves to be represented by a professional and courteous personality and not someone who cannot maintain her composure.

  • Against Re-opening Salons / Personal Services by April 27th, May 1st, or before it is safe
Petition to postpone the reopening, during the coronavirus pandemic, of any and all salons or personal services until it is deemed safe for salon owners, staff/contractors, and the clients that utilize these services. Prolong the opening of any and all personal services as long as necessary in order to protect the community from further spread of the Covid-19 so we do not cause a back peddle on all the work the stay at home order has accomplished. Prolong re-opening and or create financial aid and support options if the stay at home order is lifted for any and all personal services providers who feel it is unsafe to re-open or have high-risk family members at home and / or the service providers themselves are high risk. Financial aid options may remain available to those who are uncertain, afraid, and unable to return to work for various reasons in hopes to prevent loss of financial aid options for business owners, contractors, and service providers. Prolong the opening of any and all personal services to prevent exposure to those who may be high risk. • Bury the wires
It is time for utilities throughout the nation to bury all wires and cables that support our electric, phone and cable services. How many more outages do the American people have to endure because of antiquated above ground wiring. The changes in climate have resulted in an increase in more severe storms like Sandy on the East Coast. This is a national security issue, this is an economic issue, this is a life support issue. An aggressive nationwide effort to rebuild and replace above ground wiring can provide jobs for many years to come.
