Save Hotel PennslyvaniaHotel Pennsylvania is a beaux-arts 22 story hotel that sits adjacent from Pennsylvania Station on 7th Avenue, occupying the majority of a block between 33rd and 32nd Streets. Like the long gone transit palace for which it is named, it too faces possible demolition. Once known for it's lavish soirees and big band music, featuring the likes of Duke Ellington and Count Basie, the hotel has seen several incarnations and name shifts, including being the original Statler Hotel (for which the muppet Statler, of Statler and Waldorf fame was named). Yet, unlike other landmarks which often age poorly, Hotel Pennsylvania has evolved and changed with New York, catering to clients as diverse as canines from the Westminister Dog Show to hosting the annual My Little Pony convention. However, given the cut-throat nature of the real estate industry, the Vornado Realty Trust, best known for creating an empire of strip malls in New Jersey and generic office buildings, plans to destroy Hotel Pennsylvania. Their plan is to erect an oversized tower that would rise 70 stories, rivaling the neighboring Empire State Building, and casting a shadow over the majority of low-scale buildings that populate this area of midtown. Demolition and construction activity alongside pedestrian traffic would also pose issues for this already very dense part of the city. Fierce community opposition to the demolition in the past was not enough to sway the city council or the landmarks committee. Yet, a glimmer of hope has surfaced. Given the sluggish economy and Vornado's lack to find a major tenant to anchor their tower, the company has considered renovating Hotel Pennsylvania instead of destroying it. So, I ask you, to help reignite the fight to save Hotel Pennsylvania before it's too late. With this petition, we (we being the greater whole of New York City, and of course you) hope to ensure Hotel Penn's place in history with protective landmark status (preventing any and all future demolition) and to remain as an appreciated part of the built fabric of Manhattan while remaining a sustainable building. The greenest building of course, is a building that is already built and not an expensive glass high-rise tower. Thank you for your time and your signature.21 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Blayze O'Brien

David Carlucci: Stand Against Police ViolenceWe are writing to ask State Senator and NY-17 Congressional candidate David Carlucci to tell voters: 1. Why he has failed to advocate previously for the repeal of Section 50-a, 2. Whether he plans to support future proposals for the repeal of Section 50-a, and 3. Whether he will return campaign contributions from interest groups that oppose the repeal of Section 50-a.226 of 300 SignaturesCreated by NY-17 Voters

Princeton Wegmans: Protect your customers and workers from COVID-19!The Wegmans Food Market store in Nassau Park Pavilion is not practicing social distancing, is not providing workers with protective gear like gloves, is not decontaminating carts, and is not limiting the number of people in the store at any given time. The Health Officers of Mercer County and West Windsor Township should order the store to implement these measures and the store's General Manager should be doing it without being ordered. The health of workers and customers and the protection of our health care system literally depends on it.116 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Nathan Henderson-James

Governor Snyder and Membrs of our Michigan Legislature lead us in reversing the decline of our ec...MICHIGAN'S ELECTED STATE OFFICIALS: TAKE HEART, AND SAVE MICHIGAN'S ECONOMY This petition, addressed to Governor Snyder and to the members of our Michigan Legislature, seeks to increase the odds that our children, grandchildren and neighbors will be able to stay in our beautiful state. It reads: "Our experience has now proved that lower taxes won't save Michigan's economy. If we are to reverse the decline of our state’s economy, we must offer better public schools, better means of transporting people and goods, and better public services, generally. This will require large state investments, paid for with increased state revenues. We need to attract new businesses, but, they won't come to Michigan if we don't offer good public schools for their employees' children. Better and affordable schools will reduce the number of employees who are trained by business and, subsequently, leave our state. Better schools will, also, reduce the number of already-accomplished prospective employees who have children and who without better schools for their children simply won’t move to Michigan. We need to attract new businesses, but, they won't come if we don’t offer good roads and good rail roads for transporting raw materials to their shops and factories and for delivering their products to their customers. We need to attract new businesses, but, they won't come if we don’t offer safe and reliable public services, such as buried electric power lines and clean water. We must accumulate more state revenue to pay for better public schools, to pay for better roads and rail roads, and to pay for better public services. Increasing our state's revenues by increasing our sales tax would be self-defeating. It would further damage our poor and unemployed, increasing the amount of state money needed for their support. There is a way, perhaps the only way, to accumulate the required additional revenues. Take heart, amend our state constitution and, then, enact a graduated income tax. If you have the courage to reverse the decline of Michigan’s economy, we will all remember, and we will all stand with you.”54 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Joel A. Levitt

Amendment to the ConstitutionThis is a proposed Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America. 1st There needs to be a change to our constitution with the Election Day. The first Tuesday after the first of November is not a sound choice. It needs to be later so that there is no need or purpose of a lame duck congress. This election would be after both houses of congress had abjured for the year. Let’s make it sometime in December. People should have an entire weekend to vote. That’s Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This would help get more voters to have time to vote and may increase voter turnout. 2nd We need to change elections so that large amounts of cash are not needed to run. Campaign Finance Reform is needed to get big money out of elections. Limiting the amount of money each candidate has for their campaign can help to level the field so that each candidate has an equal chance. 3rd Running for congress every two years is a poor way to run the house, making continence of deliberation a problem and money required a constant chore. Make a term of each house member three years so that some members would be present for a new congress. Stager the 435 members currently in the house so that half would be up for reelection in two years (217) and the rest in three(218). This would make the Mid-term elections different. There would be no nationwide election of all the house members. It would make elections for some house members on off years when no other federal offices were being contested. Once the first group completes their two year term, their new terms would be for three years. House seats would be half of a senate seat. 4th Term limit each congressman and senator to a maximum of twelve years. This to encourage new people’s ideas to address our nations needs. If presidents are limited to eight years, then member of the house and senate should be limited too. These ideas are bold but I think they are needed to change the structure to make our government function and help to make debate of ideas work again.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Matthew Laiewski

Ban Depleted Uranium WeaponsPlease ban use of depleted Uranium weapons by all US military forces. This practices cause higher rates of birth defects and cancer. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/20/iraq-war-anniversary-birth-defects-cancer_n_2917701.html http://www.globalresearch.ca/the-impacts-of-deplete-uranium-cancer-birth-defects-and-the-children-of-iraq-how-the-bbc-turn-realities-upside/5329353 The requested UN working paper was delivered in 2002[40] by Y. K. J. Yeung Sik Yuen in accordance with Sub-Commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights resolution 2001/36. He argues that the use of DU in weapons, along with the other weapons listed by the Sub‑Commission, may breach one or more of the following treaties: the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Charter of the United Nations, the Genocide Convention, the United Nations Convention Against Torture, the Geneva Conventions including Protocol I, the Convention on Conventional Weapons of 1980, and the Chemical Weapons Convention. Yeung Sik Yuen writes in Paragraph 133 under the title "Legal compliance of weapons containing DU as a new weapon": Annex II to the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material 1980 (which became operative on 8 February 1997) classifies DU as a category II nuclear material. Storage and transport rules are set down for that category which indicates that DU is considered sufficiently "hot" and dangerous to warrant these protections. But since weapons containing DU are relatively new weapons no treaty exists yet to regulate, limit or prohibit its use. The legality or illegality of DU weapons must therefore be tested by recourse to the general rules governing the use of weapons under humanitarian and human rights law which have already been analysed in Part I of this paper, and more particularly at paragraph 35 which states that parties to Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions of 1949 have an obligation to ascertain that new weapons do not violate the laws and customs of war or any other international law. As mentioned, the International Court of Justice considers this rule binding customary humanitarian law. The Maui Sanctuary strategy for full, safe Employmenthttps://vimeo.com/429704059 Dear Mayor Victorino, Governor Ige and Lt.Gov. Green, Thank you for your successful efforts to keep Hawai'i safe! As the video shows, we are weeks away from making Maui 100% COVID-free, and we could get back to normal, unrestricted life, just like they did in New Zealand. We have to guard that status with a managed quarantine, which cannot accommodate the usual 9-day tourists. Tests are not enough. To get people back to work, shift tourism towards long-term visitors who want to ride out the pandemic in a safe place. This will fill the hotels, return full employment and keep us all safe. We have a unique marketing advantage to do so. Maui will be the only destination in the world that offers long-term visitors complete safety from the Coronavirus. Many locations have beaches and hotels, but only we are COVID-free. We could call it "Sanctuary Maui". Following New Zealand's example, these are the next steps: 1) Stop unrestricted interisland travel 2) Tighten the 14-day quarantine 3) Setup a task force to fully develop the Sanctuary Maui strategy Both interisland travel and a quarantine that is often circumvented may introduce additional infections. They are existential risks for an eradication strategy. We are either 100% COVID-free without masks or we try to minimize infections and continue to wear masks for the next year. Sanctuary Maui means zero infections coming to Maui, while the hotels are full, the economy is running and people are working. Let me end with a sincere appreciation for your great work. You have protected our lives and our islands through your determination, your wise guidance and your sleepless nights. Nobody could have imagined that we could get that close to eradication of the virus. Let's grab that opportunity while it is there, follow New Zealand's example, and create Sanctuary Maui. https://www.facebook.com/mauieconomy65 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Chris Mentzel
