The Supreme Court has ruled: imposing undue burdens on women seeking a safe, legal abortion is unconstitutional. In Arizona, these laws have forced women to travel hundreds of miles to access reproductive health care, endure 24 hour waiting periods, and prevented Medicaid from covering abortions. These laws are likely unconstitutional, and defending them in court will be a waste of taxpayer dollars. It’s time to repeal unconstitutional abortion restrictions!

We support the Honolulu City Council to pass a law that would prohibit the sale of tobacco products to anyone under 21 years of age. Raising the minimum age of sale for tobacco products will reduce the access to tobacco by Honolulu County youth, helping to protect them from the dangers of tobacco addiction and the long-term health problems of tobacco use. Creating a policy will maintain the City and County’s commitment to public health and help reduce the burden of tobacco-related diseases and health care costs in our community. Mahalo for signing! Gov. Tom Corbett, you are trying to rewrite your own record and pretend that you care about Pennsylvania schools. But since you took office, you have cut $1 billion from school funding. You haven’t shown us that you support public education. You claim you are restoring education funding in your proposed budget, but here’s the truth: The “new” funds you propose are barely enough to keep up with inflation, much less to reclaim the promise of high-quality public education for every child. Gov. Corbett, stop playing games and restore full and fair funding to Pennsylvania schools.

If the government was not a de facto plutocracy/oligarchy, why would it let the minimum wage fall to where an individual working 40 hours a week is living in poverty?
