  • Don’t defund or censor our museums!
Museums are institutions that preserve our country’s culture and history. But from Day 1, Trump has been threatening our cultural institutions across the board—first dismantling the Kennedy Center and now threatening the Smithsonian. The iconic Smithsonian Institution is made up of 17 free museums, galleries, and a zoo in Washington, D.C., and an additional two museums in New York City. These publicly accessible museums tell the story of our country—teaching visitors about the history of slavery and the Civil Rights era, showcasing art, and highlighting feats like space exploration.  Attacking our cultural institutions leads to the erosion of our democracy and the erasure of our history. Add your name to tell Congress and the Trump administration to fully fund our museums and REJECT censorship.

  • Tell Costco: Don't Cave to Extremists—Dispense Mifepristone Now!
We are deeply disappointed by the recent news that Costco pharmacies will not provide the abortion and miscarriage medication mifepristone. We urge you to put members' safety and well-being first by reversing your decision and dispensing this life-saving medication in all states where abortion is legal. Women are dying from treatable pregnancy complications because of extreme abortion restrictions and bans, and Costco's refusal to provide safe and legal medication will make this national crisis worse. Mifepristone has been used safely for more than 20 years by over 7.5 million people, with the FDA's approval and the endorsement of every major medical organization in this country. Make no mistake: This drug saves lives. Costco members deserve access to it. Many of us have Costco memberships because the company aligns with our values in its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as more-fair labor practices. We urge you to continue to lead with moral clarity, put the health and well-being of your members first, and dispense mifepristone in states where abortion is legal. Tell Costco to follow the science and facts and sell mifepristone NOW. >>

  • UPDATED Westhampton Beach Middle School Policy Modification
Dear Charisse Miller, and the WHB School District Board Of Education  I am writing to ask for a revision of the current electronic device policy at Westhampton Beach Middle School. I am aware that the ban is part of the much larger New York State bell-to-bell cellphone ban, although each school and school district is responsible for its own policy. I request that the cellphone ban be revised to be much softer, to encourage students to feel heard and understood.  The problem with this ban is that it shows that the district and school don't trust students in higher grades (6, 7, 8) to be responsible, indicating a lack of trust between the  school and the students. Another issue is that the ban is too harsh and could cause students to develop distrust and a lack of respect for the school and staff.  I believe some actions that could be taken are to remove smartwatches from the ban. Most smartwatches do not connect to the internet, usually connecting via another device. Smartwatches are also valuable for keeping track of time so students know when to finish work.  Another change is that instead of having to put devices into a locker, which takes time and could lead to students arriving late to class, they should remain in backpacks at all times in case of emergencies. Instead , harsher punishments should be implemented for anyone who takes out their phone during school hours without an emergency or other reason to have their phone out , which could include in-school suspension or losing privileges.  In addition, students need to coordinate pickup with family members and guardians. I propose there be leniency for any student needing to communicate with family to coordinate pickup times . This will make it so it takes less time for communication between family and the student and will lessen the number of students needing to call home inside the main office.  Emergencies happen, and communication between the school and parents is vital for the safety of the students. Many parents, including mine, write off emails, calls, and messages sent by the school as spam or ignore them, thinking they are junk. This has personally happened to me, and I believe during an emergency, students should be able to communicate with their loved ones through some sort of device. This is in addition to paragraph four, where it states that students should be able to keep devices in their backpacks in case of an emergency.  I hope you consider this proposal to change the WHBMS policy, and thank you for reading this.

  • Tell Congress: Help Keep Kilmar Abrego Garcia Home!
I am outraged over reports that the Trump administration is preparing to deport Kilmar Abrego Garcia to Uganda, months after mistakenly and illegally deporting him to El Salvador. I urge you to speak out, demand justice, and do everything in your power to keep Abrego Garcia, and others like him, home.

  • Stop Administration's Plan to Eliminate Covid-19 Vaccines
Donald Trump’s administration, led by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., is preparing to remove the COVID-19 vaccines from circulation in the United States within months. This is reckless, dangerous, and a direct threat to public health. COVID-19 vaccines have saved millions of lives. According to CDC data, vaccination cut the risk of death by more than 90% in the first year of rollout. Worldwide, studies show vaccines prevented at least 14 million deaths in 2021 alone. To take them away now would strip Americans of life-saving protection and open the door to new deadly waves of infection. This decision is not about science or safety. It is about political games and conspiracy theories. The American people deserve better. We demand that: 1. Congress immediately blocks any effort by the Trump administration to remove COVID-19 vaccines from circulation. 2. Congress investigates Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s role at HHS and his dangerous push to undermine lifesaving medicine. Call for his resignation immediately. 3. Elected leaders publicly reaffirm their commitment to science and public health. Americans have the right to make their own healthcare choices, including access to safe and effective vaccines. Removing vaccines puts lives at risk — especially children, seniors, and immunocompromised people. This is a matter of life and death. Congress must act now.

  • Let’s ‘Block the Bombs’ that Fuel Violence & Suffering in Gaza!
Congress must do all it can to honor U.S. law and end U.S. complicity in Gaza. Passing the Block the Bombs Act (H.R.3565) is an urgently needed and necessary step to stop fueling the Israeli military with U.S. weapons, including many that have already been used to massacre civilians. I urge you to give this bill your full support and ask that you do all you can to secure its prompt passage.

  • Yale Athletics and Yale University-Stop Flying Avelo/ICE Air
PETITION:  Yale Stop Supporting Avelo Airlines We, the undersigned, oppose Yale Athletics’ and Yale University flying with Avelo Airlines, which profits from ICE’s cruel detentions and deportations. ICE and other agents ambush our neighbors— a mother taking her children to school, an honor roll student attending a mandatory appointment, and hardworking families—then move them across states in shackles, without due process- before deporting them. Avelo Airlines enables and profits from this cruelty, even hiding its name on deportation planes. Do the right thing. Stop Flying Avelo–ICE Air. • Help James Jones Pursue A Commutation
Meet James Jones, a man who is currently serving a life sentence for a crime he did not commit. He was wrongfully convicted of a drive-by shooting that resulted in the passing of an individual in 2001. The evidence used in the trial and the legal personnel involved in his case are questionable in their credibility. PLEASE READ ALL (thank you so much)!  Evidence:  • Faulty Line-up: Before a criminal line-up set up by the Detroit Police Department, the three witnesses in the case were picked up by a legal official and shown a picture of Jones. It's alleged that they asked for "the name of the man in the photo" as opposed to asking if he committed the crime, but showing the photo of Jones still influences one to associate him with the crime. This calls the line-up into question. • Lack of Codefendants: Jones was charged with First-Degree Murder-Aiding and Abetting. How is he guilty of aiding and abetting a premeditated murder without any codefendants he allegedly assisted?  • Lack of Witnesses: The prosecution heavily relied on only one witness who placed him at the crime scene. Part of the primary evidence used in his case was hearsay.   • Corrupt Officials Who Oversaw the Case: The first lead detective on Jones' case, Detective Dale Collins, has recently been listed in a wrongful conviction lawsuit by exonerees Ramon Ward (served 27 years) and Larry Smith (served 26 years). Collins is involved in several other wrongful conviction cases. The late former DPD detective and second lead detective on Jones' case, JoAnn Miller, has also been cited as an “unreliable source”  (Baugh v. Nagy, pg. 20 of linked source). In Baugh v. Nagy, she omitted a significant statement that exhibits the innocence of the accused. In turn, Jimmy Baugh was wrongfully incarcerated for approximately 20 years.  • For more information:  • Ward Case: https://theappeal.org/another-wrongful-conviction-and-a-chance-for-worthy-to-step-up-659901b1fc00/ • Baugh Case: https://law.justia.com/cases/federal/appellate-courts/ca6/21-1844/21-1844-2022-09-30.html About James Jones: Jones has been serving his time in a low-level security facility with no assault or fighting tickets on his record. He has recently received a certificate in Public Leadership and Administration and is completing his studies for a degree in Business Law! When he isn't studying or speaking with friends/family, he is perfecting recipes, like his special steamed rice BBQ chicken dinner. Despite his incarceration spanning 24 years, Jones has maintained a close relationship with his family and friends. His mother, wife, and other family members continue to fight fiercely for his freedom, inspiring others, including myself, to do the same.  What You Can Do: YOUR VOICE CAN CALL ATTENTION TO INJUSTICE! YOU HAVE CIVIC POWER! YOU CAN CHANGE OTHERS' LIVES FOR THE BETTER!  James and his legal team have long sought exoneration. He is now working on his application for a commutation, which can only be granted by Governor Whitmer. Call her office and let her know James Jones needs to come home!  • Contact Info:  • Executive Office Number: 517-335-7858 (Constituent Services) • Important Information to Include:  • Include his name and MDOC #: James Jones; 362351 • Mention any aspect of the evidence stated previously that you feel is strongest.  • EX: "The lead detective in James Jones' case, Dale Collins, has been a part of exoneree cases, including Ramon Ward. This implies further corruption in other cases Collins has handled. Please urge Governor Whitmer to approve James Jones' commutation application!"  • Request for his commutation to be reviewed/approved!  Thank you so much for contributing to his fight! Together, we can change the trajectory of injustice and make the world a better place one case at a time!

  • Dignity for Nob Hill Tenants
Every tenant has the right to a safe, secure, and healthy environment in which to live.  The tenants at Nob Hill Apartments in Syracuse, NY, have suffered from constant management turnover, property neglect, and disinvestment leaving their once prosperous community in severe disrepair. This year alone, residents endured months without heat in winter and without hot water in spring; some still lack consistent access to hot water. Elevators frequently break down, trapping seniors and residents with disabilities inside their apartments. Security is also a growing concern: front entry doors in most buildings do not lock, car theft is rampant, and residents report increasing incidents of drug use and violence on the property. The tenants at Nob Hill are not asking for extraordinary conditions, but for basic, dignified, and habitable living spaces. It is the landlord's legal and ethical responsibility to provide these conditions. We stand with the tenants of Nob Hill and, in our united concern for the well-being of all residents, are demanding immediate action to address the unsafe and deteriorating living conditions of their homes.

  • Do Not Rescind the Endangerment Finding on Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Administrator Zeldin, you have called your proposed recission of the Endangerment Finding "a dagger into the heart of the climate change religion." Climate change is not a religion to be believed; it is a matter of science based on fact. And the Endangerment Finding is a valid assessment based on scientific evidence that six Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions are, indeed, endangering "the public health and welfare of current and future generations." It underpins the regulation of emissions from vehicles, power plants, oil and gas operations, and other industries under the Clean Air Act. Do not rescind this critically important protection.

  • Secretary Rubio must reverse this dangerous and inhumane decision immediately
Barring people from Gaza from seeking medical care in the United States won’t make anyone safer. It will immediately put the lives of more people — including children — at unnecessary risk. People are safer when they are free from violence, and able to access aid and life-saving care. I strongly urge you to reverse this decision and continue issuing temporary medical-humanitarian visas to Gazans once more.
