Soft opening May 1, 2020
Allow a licensed beauty/barber/nail tech professional to perform a service privately with one client in the salon per stylist at a time starting Friday May 1, 2020. All necessary precautions and sanitation protocols approved by the state of Nebraska and the local Board of Health will be followed, along with extra sanitation measures during the Covid-19 pandemic. Our industry needs to be recognized and deemed as an essential business so that we can better serve our community. Many of our clients are "essential workers" and maintaining a professional look is important to them on all levels, including mental health. Servicing one client at a time (while wearing a mask ) poses little to no risk of spreading the virus, as compared to the 100 or more people in a grocery store or 10 plus people picking up food at restaurants. The future of our service industry is at great risk the longer we are forced to be closed as many of us are self-employed and have not seen any unemployment benefits yet. Long before Covid-19, we were worried about MRSA, Staph, Strep, Tuberculosis, HIV, and more. We are trained in infectious disease transmission from ourselves and from others. We have continuing education every two years with additional sanitation education. We are inspected at any time without warning by the state.
We are licensed to touch people under the strict guidelines of the state. Please consider letting us do this responsibly. We are all licensed through the Health Department and have been diligently trained on sanitation practices; we can handle this responsibly.

Why is this important?
The survival of the independent salon professionals is at risk. We are facing a grave financial hardship. We need our district officials to see what this is doing to our industry and livelihood.
