STOP THE BRIDGE POINT 8 INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX BY QUAKER BRIDGE MALL!
Please SCRAP The Bridge Point 8 Industrial project. The traffic study was based on "zero scientific data" per Karl Pehnke, the engineer who has been collecting data on this tract for 17 years. This alone disqualifies the project from consideration. If his best-guess projections are accurate, it is further disqualified as none of the surrounding roads can absorb the dramatic 61.85% increase in traffic that Mr. Pehnke predicts for this industrial site, 5.5 times the size of the entire Quaker Bridge Mall lot, and built on and adjacent to flood-prone wetlands! The developer's stormwater calculations were based on ancient flood maps from 1999, NOT current flood maps! This will impact Lawrenceville, Princeton, Hamilton, South Brunswick and this entire region! Nobody wants 8 lanes of Quaker Bridge Rd, 8 lanes of Clarksville, and hundreds of big rigs, funneled through our communities and right by public schools, endangering small children and new teen drivers! If we become an industrial region, home values will drop, you'll be too scared to ride bikes or let your child walk the dog. Quality of life diminished, you'll just want to leave. All towns that touch the Rte 1 corridor, and for miles around, will all absorb the impact of this thoughtless and destructive project. Leave the Garden in Garden State! SCRAP Bridge Point 8! Commit to maintaining quality of life in West Windsor, Mercer County and our neighboring towns along the Rte 1 corridor. See update below for action steps.
Why is this important?
All surrounding towns share common arteries to and from Rte 1. This project will negatively impact towns way beyond Mercer County. Rte 1 is overburdened and frequently seizes up, funnelling traffic through our streets to circumvent accidents which will become greater in number and severity if Mr. Pehnke's professional estimates are even half correct. Separate from flooding, due to the over-paving of our state, and the toxic emissions from ever-idling trucks, there are so many more reasons why this is a terrible idea, but the most impactful are the constant flooding, and taking the entire area, beyond Mercer, and putting it regularly at a stand still so commuting becomes more horrific, toxic & deadly than it already is, while quality of life further degrades. Implore the County and State to SCRAP Bridge Point 8! There is plenty of vacant warehouse space in NJ. Why waste resources building more and paving over what's left of the Garden State? We can do great things with open space in the Garden State, with people who care about the planet and quality of life AND even ratables... Please get on board! Sign today and pass it on now, then take the action steps isted below - time is of the essence!
How it will be delivered
We will email the petition to the Mercer County Planning Board members, as well as Governor Murphy, so continue to sign and share until Bridge Point 8 is SCRAPPED!
