Stop the Warehouse on New Boyd Road
The Forsyth Commissioner Court has recently approved a sketch plat for a proposed warehouse that would cut down 10 acres of forest and exit to a residential and school street on New Boyd Road. They have done this without conducting any environmental or traffic impact studies.
For too long, New Boyd Road, a GDOT-designated residential street, has been used and abused by trucks from the quarry, instead of using the commercial Lakefield Drive, which is much better equipped for heavy traffic. This has brought substantial noise and air pollution right next to our neighborhood and our local preschool, and the proposed warehouse would worsen these conditions.
We are signing this petition to ask Commissioner Alfred John to reconsider his decision, and:
(1) order a halt to any deforestation or construction until thorough environmental and traffic impact studies are performed and our communities have had a chance to fully understand the results
(2) request the developer make a new sketch plat that takes into consideration the fact that New Boyd Road is a residential street not equipped for truck traffic, where all entrances / exits of the proposed warehouse remain off of our residential road, and
(3) take measures to redirect all quarry, construction, and warehouse truck traffic to Lakefield Drive.
Why is this important?
Our community has the right to know how new projects will impact us and the right to live in a clean and peaceful environment.
