On behalf of Pac-12 University Bands and Spirit Squads (Cheer, Dance, Song & Mascots) – we invite you to sign this petition to keep Spirit Squads and Bands participating in Pac-12 sports.
Why is this important?
Pac-12 just voted to play fall sports – so let’s have ALL athletes participate. We believe the fans and players want the energetic enthusiasm that Mascots, Cheerleaders, Dancers, and Bands provide. We want our Spirit Squads to do what they do best - create excitement for our teams, build school pride and continue the great tradition of sideline spirit!
Our Spirit teams have worked tirelessly to perfect their skills, and they too, as athletes have come to their schools to participate in their sport. They perform at school sporting events, make community appearances as representatives of their schools, donate their time to give back to community causes, promote their schools in national competition, and diligently and enthusiastically support their universities and sports teams.
For some of these students, this is their support system that provides security and structure to their college experience. Not having this opportunity is limiting their ability to be ambassadors for their schools and showcase their talents. Let them show their school spirit!
We believe in safety protocols established by our schools and the Pac-12, and we will support all requirements that strictly adhere to guidelines that help to mitigate exposure to Covid-19. Across the country and other Power Five conferences, we are witnessing Band and Spirit at sporting events. We, too, can do it SAFELY.
