Support More Housing and Clean up Ridge Ave in Peoplestown

Stafford Properties is working hard to revitalize Ridge Ave, bringing 25-35 businesses to create a commercial hub for Peoplestown and SE Atlanta via TerminalSouth.com.

We are also in the process of rezoning 1111 Ridge Ave to allow for additional multi-family housing- 15% of which will be affordable units. It is currently zoned for industrial use only. Our nation and especially our City is in a housing crisis and what is scarce will always be expensive. We are proposing 350 new units and 53 of those units will be affordable housing.

1111 Ridge Ave is a highly contaminated site due to it being a former coal yard. Stafford has placed this land in the Brownfield Program to ensure the hazards are properly remediated to EPA standards.

Stafford wants to transform Ridge Ave from a kudzu covered wasteland to a vibrant commercial and living space for people of all income levels to live, work and enjoy.

Why is this important?

1. Atlanta needs more housing. We are in a supply and demand crisis with housing right now, and authorities are predicting hundreds of thousands of people to move into the City of Atlanta in the next 20 years. What is scarce is not affordable.

2. Environmental Cleanup- former industrial sites like that at 1111 Ridge Ave need to be cleaned up to remove environmental hazards from our city's historic black neighborhoods.

3. Mixed income housing allows for more expendable income to flow into neighborhoods, supporting businesses that provide jobs, like the 200-250 jobs we're projecting to bring into Peoplestown via Terminal South. It also allows for affordable units to be in developments with more security and better amenities.
