Why must I die in prison
we now petition Pennsylvania state governor Tom wolf and Pennsylvania attorney general Josh Shapiro for a judicial intervention in the case of native American Efrain Hidalgo JR. who received a 'de facto life sentence of 60 to 150 years for selling drugs in 2000 which many have called abnormally harsh, this sentence illustrates how the judicial system treats people of color harshly .Hidalgo's story ran on the front page of the USA today on Wednesday ,December 15, 2021 titled "Why must I die in prison " (click on link for article) Hidalgo's sentence was called "probably the most extreme sentence I've ever seen in Pennsylvania for a drug case " said maria Goellner ,state policy director for the criminal Justice reform group families Against mandatory minimums .former Blair county court of common pleas judge Norman D. Callan displayed racist tendencies when he stated in his interview to the USA today "Whether it's a Native American, Hispanic American, African American," there's a disproportionate number in prison because they do a disproportionate amount of crime " Blair county Pennsylvania has statically shown to sentence people of color more harshly then white this behavior cannot go unchecked no longer and we must change these injustices and ensure Blair county will no longer treat people of color differently no more Hidalgo's time in prison has been positive completing all proscribed prison programming and receiving a refrigeration trade has maintained a model inmate status being housed on honor blocks for inmates that display positive behavior his conviction and sentence has many questions without no answers from intentionally withholding evidence by the prosecution excessive sentencing due to the color of his skin so we petition Pennsylvania governor Tom wolf to commute Hidalgo's sentence due to the facts established by the USA today and we petition Pennsylvania attorney general Josh Shapiro to use his conviction integrity unit for a much needed intervention 22 plus years of incarceration due to the color of Hidalgo's skin must come to a end and equal justice for all no matter what ones race or skin color maybe !
Why is this important?
We need fair justice for all raise no matter what one raise may be. When it comes to equality of justice. Efrain is a son a uncle a great uncle a brother. Who has been stripped unfairly of his human rights and deserve justice after doing his time. He has served 22 years of a sentences to 60 to 159 years. When molesters ,murders receive the lowest minimum sentencing. Which is cruel and unfair.I Yolanda am efrain niece I lost my mother at 3 years old my uncle efrain Hidalgo jr . He was my father figure he was taken before being able to see me grow into a young women. I have four children that he missed out on. Efrain has done his time he deserves to spend his time home with our family. Efrain has made front page of USA TODAY TITLING (Native American man serving de facto life sentence for drug dealing why must I do in prison) In this article states all the wrongfully info based on his case. I’m reaching out to the community and to all who can help bring justice to a native man who has been wrongfully sentenced. He was a young man going in and has changed into a man who looks into coming home and changing the world with helping those going down the wrong path.
